Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For a 7 piece line up we typically need a performance space of around 6m x 5m, with larger line ups requiring additional room. We need access to safe, reliable power with a minimum of 4 x 13 amp sockets. We ask for at least 2 hours for setup and soundcheck, usually arriving from 4pm for evening receptions. We also require 2 to 3 parking spaces for equipment load in.

What information do you require about a venue?

We ask for the venue address and load in details including any access restrictions, stairs or lifts. We need to know if the venue operates a sound limiter and at what level, as we are highly experienced working within these restrictions. We also ask for contact details for the venue coordinator and any relevant information about the room layout, stage area or production setup already in place.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we are completely self contained for all UK events. Every booking includes a professional PA system, band lighting rig and a dedicated sound engineer. For destination and international bookings we work with trusted local production suppliers to ensure the same quality of sound and performance at every event.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. We provide curated background playlists between live sets to keep the atmosphere flowing without any awkward silences. We are happy to take direction from clients on the style and mood of the music, or curate something ourselves based on the event. A professional DJ add-on is also available for clients who want a full evening of music beyond the live sets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One of our most memorable performances was at Castello di Rosciano, a stunning hilltop castle above the Umbrian countryside near Perugia, Italy. In August 2024 we performed for Keith and Paige, whose guests had travelled from the US, Mexico, Spain, England and Ireland. The music had to feel inclusive and unforgettable from the first note. We started as a 4 piece acoustic band for the ceremony before expanding into a full 7 piece showband as the sun set over the castle walls. The setlist blended Texas country classics with UK garage and R&B, reflecting the couple perfectly. The dancefloor stayed packed until 1am with guests from different countries leaving as lifelong friends. Castello di Rosciano is breathtaking. The stone archways, candlelit courtyards and panoramic Umbrian views create an atmosphere that feels cinematic. Performing there was a night we will never forget.

What's your favourite type of event?

Weddings are without question our favourite. Being trusted to soundtrack the most important day of someone's life is a responsibility we take seriously and a privilege we never take for granted. There is nothing quite like watching a dancefloor fill up from the very first song and seeing guests of every age, from grandparents to toddlers, singing along and letting go completely. We have performed at hundreds of weddings across London, Birmingham and the Midlands as well as destination celebrations internationally, and that feeling never gets old. That said, a great corporate event where we get to genuinely surprise a room full of people who weren't expecting something that special runs it a very close second.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

NeoRoots was founded in 2018 by a group of professional musicians who had spent years performing at events and felt there was a better, more exciting way to do it. We built the band from scratch around energy, versatility and genuine showmanship, ditching tired setlists and predictable transitions in favour of seamless medleys and high-energy performances that feel more like headline concerts than background entertainment. What started as a passionate idea grew quickly through word of mouth and packed dancefloors. Today we are a 10-piece core band supported by a roster of over 25 exceptional musicians, and have performed at hundreds of weddings, corporate events and private celebrations across the UK and internationally. Our members bring extensive professional experience including touring with major artists and appearances on BBC, Sky TV and major festival stages including Victorious Festival.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As a band we are genuinely eclectic and draw influence from across every genre and era, which is exactly why our sets work for such a wide range of guests. The foundation of our sound comes from the icons of soul, R&B and funk. Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan and Lauryn Hill shaped how we think about live performance. More recently Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic and Dua Lipa have influenced how we approach modern party music. Our repertoire spans the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and beyond, which reflects just how broad our collective musical taste really is. As for the greatest song of all time, September by Earth Wind and Fire gets the most votes in the band. It is physically impossible to stand still when that opening hits.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive two hours before the performance to set up and complete a full soundcheck. For evening receptions we usually arrive from 4pm. Our standard performance consists of two 60 minute live sets, with larger packages offering three 60 minute sets. We provide curated background playlists between sets to keep the atmosphere flowing. Extended performance times and additional DJ sets can be arranged in advance.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we regularly perform at outdoor receptions, marquee weddings and garden celebrations. We ask for suitable cover to protect our equipment, a flat and level performance surface and access to safe, reliable power. For marquee or outdoor events we recommend discussing power requirements with your venue or planner in advance. Generator hire can also be arranged where needed.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients are very much involved in shaping the music for their event. We welcome do not play lists, genre preferences and song requests in advance, and we will learn and perform your chosen first dance live. For the main party sets we use carefully curated medleys built from years of live performance experience, designed to keep energy high and dancefloors packed. Clients can share favourite songs or artists and we will weave them into the setlist wherever possible.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients consistently describe NeoRoots as the highlight of their wedding or event. Common themes across our reviews include packed dancefloors from the very first song, a band that genuinely interacts with guests rather than just performing at them, and a level of energy and professionalism that exceeded expectations. One couple said we smashed every expectation they had built from watching our videos online. Another told us we turned their party into an event. We are proudly rated 5 stars across all platforms with over 67 verified reviews.
