DJ Mathea Athens-based DJ specialising in mainstream club music, techno and hard groove

For club and bar bookings, I normally require a professional DJ booth with a Pioneer/AlphaTheta setup, ideally CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-3000 or equivalent players with a DJM-900NXS2, DJM-A9 or equivalent mixer. A suitable PA system, booth monitors and reliable power should be provided by the venue. I perform primarily from USB and bring my own headphones. I’m happy to adapt to other professional setups as long as the equipment is confirmed in advance. If travel is not far I have my own DJ set which is the XDJ-RX3 to bring to the event.

Before the booking, I’d like to know the DJ equipment available at the venue, set time and expected set length, music direction for the night, approximate capacity, and whether there are any sound restrictions. I’d also appreciate information regarding arrival/load-in time, the location of the DJ booth and a contact person at the venue for the night. If the venue has a specific music policy or preferred style, please let me know in advance so I can prepare accordingly.

For club and bar bookings, I normally perform using the venue’s existing professional sound and lighting system. I bring my own USBs and headphones and can work with a range of professional DJ setups. Any specific equipment requirements can be discussed and confirmed before the booking.

Yes. If required, background or warm-up music can be arranged before my set and during any breaks, with the music tailored to suit the venue and atmosphere.

One of my biggest and most memorable gigs was performing at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai in front of more than 5,000 people. Performing in an arena at that scale was an incredible experience and really developed my confidence playing to large crowds. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform alongside and open for internationally recognised artists and DJs including Paul van Dyk, Tion Wayne, Russ Millions and D-Block Europe. Coca-Cola Arena remains one of the most impressive venues I’ve performed at, alongside events at Expo City Dubai.

My favourite events are definitely clubs, bars and high-energy nightlife events where I can properly read the crowd and build the energy throughout the night. My favourite styles to play are mainstream club music, techno and hard bounce, although I’m very comfortable adapting my sound depending on the venue and audience. I especially enjoy nights where I can start more accessible and gradually take the crowd into a heavier, higher-energy sound as the night develops.

I started DJing at 11 years old, and what began as a passion quickly developed into years of performing at parties, clubs and major events across Dubai. Over time, I progressed to playing for crowds of 5,000+ at venues including Coca-Cola Arena and Expo City Dubai, and have opened for or performed alongside artists such as Paul van Dyk, Tion Wayne, Russ Millions and D-Block Europe.

Alongside DJing, I created my own event concept, PULSE, and was heavily involved in Planit parties, helping grow Dubai’s under-18 nightlife scene. These experiences taught me how to read a crowd, control the energy of a night and adapt my sets rather than rely on a fixed playlist. I’m now based in Athens and looking to bring that experience into the Greek club and nightlife scene.

My biggest influences come from artists who bring huge energy while still having a really distinctive sound. I’m especially inspired by Marlon Hoffstadt, Charlotte de Witte, Sara Landry and David Guetta. I love the harder, faster and more energetic side of Marlon Hoffstadt and Sara Landry, while Charlotte de Witte has had a big influence on my interest in techno. David Guetta has also influenced me through the way he blends mainstream music with electronic music and performs for massive crowds.

My all-time favourite artist is Marlon Hoffstadt because I love the energy, style and atmosphere he creates in his sets, and that sound is very close to the direction I enjoy playing myself. For the greatest song of all time, I’d still choose “Levels” by Avicii because it’s timeless and always gets an amazing reaction from a crowd.

I’m very flexible depending on the venue and event. I can perform anything from a 1-hour guest set to longer 2–4+ hour club or bar sets. I normally arrive around 30–60 minutes before my set to get familiar with the setup and make sure everything is ready. I can perform on the venue’s equipment or bring my own Pioneer XDJ-RX3 if required.

Yes, absolutely. I’m happy to perform at outdoor venues, beach clubs, rooftops and open-air events. I would just need the DJ equipment to be safely positioned and protected from rain, extreme heat or other weather conditions.

Absolutely. I always like to understand the music direction and atmosphere the venue wants before I play. I can tailor my set towards mainstream, techno, hard bounce, house or a mixture depending on the night. I don’t rely on a fixed playlist — I prepare for the venue and then read the crowd live, adapting the music and energy throughout my set.

High-energy, confident and crowd-focused. I’m often complimented on my ability to read the room, keep people dancing and adapt quickly depending on how the crowd reacts. I focus heavily on smooth mixing, track selection and building the energy throughout the night rather than simply playing one song after another.
