D. R. Kaplan is a jazz pianist living in New Orleans, LA and has been playing the piano for over 25 years. He taught himself jazz theory after being inspired by Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and Frank Zappa. For more than a year, D.R. has been opening up for Jazz Legend Kermit Ruffin at Kermit’s Mother-in-Law Lounge in the Treme. He has also played at the House of Blues, the New Orleans Jazz Museum, and the Royal Frenchmen Hotel.
