Went to Ranch House last evening with a friend for dinner and a drink. Was pleasantly surprised to find Dr Saxy playing saxophone. He was fun to watch and listen to. He is an accomplished musician. I had fun suggesting songs for him to play. He did a wonderful job of playing a large selection of songs for all ages. Will definitely tell my friends about the great evening we had. Loved his tenor sax!

We went for a dinner, but we just had to dance! Our children had so much fun with the Dr. ! He played some requests for us and the kids were just in amazement! Such great exposure to a wonderful , professional, and fun musician! Keep up the tunes Dr! 🎷

Always wanted to go listen to music and have a beer. This was the perfect place. I was very impressed. The meal and drinks were very nice too. The evening in whole though was relaxing. If you enjoy jazz or classical music it's a must. I will definitely go again.

It was an absolute honor to listen to Dr. Saxy. I truly enjoyed every minute! While sitting with friends and eating wonderful food at the Mecardo District on 23rd st in McAllen, he made the atmosphere so wonderful. There was never a dull moment. People would get up and dance to the great songs he was playing. He has so much passion for playing that his energy moves through everyone around him. So if you're in the area, go & see for yourself, you won't regret it!

I’ve had the pleasure of attending several performances and he never disappoints. He has a variety of songs in his set you are sure to love!

I have always loved the sax, but I have never heard someone play it well in person. It was a pleasant and totally unexpected surprise when Dr. Hinojosa showed up at my last martial arts tournament and played the Star-Spangled Banner for us. He zoomed in due to some bad weather, set up, and fluttered his fingers over the keys like he was born doing it. It was incredible, calming to my nerves, and stirring to my musical spirit. I can only hope for a chance to hear him play again.

I recently attended the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame dinner in Costa Mesa California
I had no idea there was going to be music at the event.
As my wife and I walked into the dining hall we were greeted by some of the sweetest music I have heard in years.
Throughout the evening Doc entertained us with selections of Music spanning the years.
We listened with huge Smiles on our faces.
It truly is special when you get to hear someone share their soul with you through their music !
It is amazing how music can change an event from regular to Spectacular...He even brought a tear of joy to my eyes .
His music undeniably heightened the level of an already amazing event.
I would highly suggest if you'd like to take your next event up a notch, book Doc Saxy.. you and everyone present at your event will be happy you did.

Read the room… good thing Dr. Hinojosa is also an accomplished author. Doc creates the perfect playlist for any event/ situation. Dr. Hinojosa’s is a masterful musician. I’d dare say he is on par or better than some instrumentalist I know that have played at Carnage. If you get the chance to listen Dr. Saxy play don’t pass the opportunity up.

I have to admit even thou I do like the smooth sound of the Saxaphone I have never really known to much about it I have seen Candy Dulfer and the late Clarence Clemons in concert and I did see the movie Bird on the late Charlie Parker it just made me realize what a person can do with a Sax with just the right person playing it, I can now add Dr. Jose Hinojosa to that list hearing his playing right in front of me at the recent Martial Arts Hall of Fame Awards made me like it even more the way he played on stage and just walking around the people playing fun songs made the evening even more enjoyable, hopefully I will get the chance to see him playing again sometime.

Dr Saxy played a beautiful set of music for our annual dinner last fall in Houston. His music perfectly set the mood for our celebration. My soul was singing along as he played!

Jose doesn’t play saxophone. He is saxophone. When he holds it, he is a saxophone, and the saxophone becomes him. When that happens to any instrument or a musician, it’ll take you to a whole new world, the world you’ve never been before. How can you be like that? LOVE.

Had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Saxy play at an impromptu gathering as he warmed up before playing at the Maritial Arts Hall of Fame on Costa Mesa, CA. Even as he was warming up, his tone was smooth, his music selections perfect for a intimate group of people from South Korea, Ghana, Mexico,and TX.

We wanted a small intimate gathering so we only invited 15 guests. Jose Luis and I are old high school buddies and since he was in town we wanted to come play for me and my wife. I’d be the first time I’d see him play since high school. So he came and set up, talked with some of the guests and we all felt like close friends. He starts off the backing track, Then all of a sudden he starts playing. My gosh the room got full of beautiful music! Not loud but abundantly pleasurable. We and our friends were impressed. He played English & Spanish tunes, old and new. One guest told me’ “He’s so good. Makes me wish I would have picked up an instrument in high school and learned to play!”. Between songs he’d talk to the audience and put everyone at ease. He’d tell us stories about the next tune and they were all #1s! At the end of the night we all had a great time. No one left early. One guest said, “can’t wait to see him again! When is he coming back??”. We’ll we’re working on that! Unforgettable evening!

This is by far the best sax I have had the pleasure of listening to at any event. I truly enjoyed listening to the good Dr - whether dancing or just simply enjoying every note of music while seating and or dining. Simply stated, the best of the best in my opinion.
