Imagine walking down the aisle to the sound of a live soprano, welcoming your guests with an elegant string quartet, or enjoying beautiful piano music during your wedding dinner.
At Dutch Wedding Bells, we believe live classical music adds something truly special to a wedding: elegance, emotion and a personal touch.
Founded by professional classical soprano Charlotte Houberg, Dutch Wedding Bells brings together exceptional musicians to create beautiful musical experiences for weddings in the Netherlands and beyond.
We offer a carefully selected network of professional classical musicians, with a variety of lineups to suit your wedding:
Soloists: Classical singer, pianist, violinist, harpist, etc.
Duos: Singer and piano, violin and piano, or other combinations.
String ensembles: String duos, trios and quartets.
Larger ensembles: Tailor-made combinations for grand ceremonies and special occasions.
Whether you are planning an intimate wedding ceremony, a reception at a historic estate or an elegant dinner in a castle, we help you find the perfect musical setting.
Our repertoire ranges from beloved classical masterpieces to romantic opera arias and beautiful instrumental music.
Think of composers such as Bach, Mozart, Handel, Schubert, Puccini, Debussy and many more.
From a moving Ave Maria during your ceremony to elegant string music during your reception, we carefully select the repertoire to suit your personal taste, venue and wedding programme.
We can also explore classical arrangements of contemporary songs, depending on your preferred ensemble.
Dutch Wedding Bells was founded by Charlotte Houberg, a classically trained soprano with over 15 years of professional musical experience.
Charlotte has performed with renowned orchestras and ensembles, appeared in opera productions and sung on international stages, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Drawing on her extensive experience and professional network, she personally advises couples on repertoire, instrumentation and the practical details of live classical performances.
You don't need to know anything about classical music to create an extraordinary musical experience.
We guide you through the possibilities, select the right musicians and coordinate the musical arrangements, so you can enjoy your wedding without worrying about the details.
From the first musical notes of your ceremony to the final moments of your celebration, our goal is to make the music feel entirely your own.
Planning your wedding or event? We'd love to hear your ideas and help bring them to life.
Chosen instruments or vocals
for example:
- Ave Maria - Bach/Gounod (voice or cello and piano)
- Canon in D major - Johann Pachelbel (ensemble)
- Nocturne op. 9 no. 1 or 2 - Chopin (piano)
- Salut d'amour - Elgar (violin and piano)
The Swan (Le Cygne) – Camille Saint-Saëns (harp)
As classical musicians and singers we don't need much. If the venue is outside and the sun is shining, we would like some shadow. Most instruments cannot handle rain unfortunately. Instrumentalists need a chair and enough space to move.
We would like to know what kind of space we will be performing in—whether it is indoors or outdoors, how much space is available, and if anything is known about the acoustics. Ideally, please include some photos.
Since we almost always play without amplification (with a few exceptions for very large venues), we don’t need anything. We don't need extra/special light, only if you prefer.
No
No, other instruments are also needed. A piano can sound very beautiful as a solo instrument, but it can also serve as accompaniment for vocals or a violin. However, this does require a good, well-tuned piano or grand piano to be available.
I have performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam - one of the best concert halls in the world. I also sang in an opera at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA.
I love to sing at any event, but weddings make me very happy.
I began as a violinist at a very young age and was already performing regularly. At 17, I started classical vocal training and enrolled at the conservatory. I have always been a performer, appearing at everything from small events, parties, and concerts to venues with thousands of seats.
Maria Callas with Vissi d'arte of Puccini
Yes, that is possible, then it is a cappella, but it could also be done with a recording tape (so a speaker).
We normally arrive one hour before te performance to check the acoustics and setting. How often we perform and how long depends on the event and is discussed in advance.
Yes, but full sun, rain, or very strong winds can be a problem.
Yes, there is a list, but we are flexible.
Previews customers would describe us as moving, beautiful, very special.
