About / Biography

My live caricature service is an amazing addition to weddings or corporate events, capturing the lively atmosphere perfectly! It serves as both entertainment and a memorable gift, with guests keeping their caricatures as cherished mementos or wedding favours.

I have two goals: to create accurate yet enhanced caricatures and to foster a fun atmosphere. I offer a humorous or exaggerated style upon request, which guests love. Throughout the session, there's constant banter, with models and the crowd engaging in laughter and conversation, making it a truly interactive experience.
Being sketched live adds excitement and creates lasting memories. Each sketch takes around 3 minutes, typically done on A4 paper for individuals, couples, or small groups. Larger groups can be accommodated on bigger pages, perfect for group caricatures.Sketches can be personalized with a monogram for a small fee and are protected in plastic sleeves. Every wedding guest receives a free caricature.

This isn't just a good idea for your event—it's an outstanding one guaranteed to be a hit with everyone. Let's discuss making it happen for you. It's affordable, so don't hesitate to contact me.

I can't wait to hear from you and turn this idea into reality!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I offer valuable advice on selecting the best location for setting up, considering the venue's surroundings. The setup is carefully planned to blend seamlessly with the site, ensuring it looks inviting and aesthetically pleasing. Factors like visibility, smooth queuing lines, and respectful spacing are taken into account to avoid disrupting others.
My workstation is versatile and can be arranged indoors or outdoors, following all necessary health and safety guidelines. It requires a minimum floor space of 1.5m x 2.5m and includes an easel, a bar stool, a small utility table, and a portable light. When indoors, access to a 220-volt power point is preferred for the portable light, especially if the venue has poor lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

Before setting up, it's important to gather specific details about the venue. This includes any access codes or passwords needed to enter the premises or pass through security. If there are multiple wedding reception halls within the venue, it's helpful to know the name of the one being used. For locations within complexes, estates, office parks, or recreational centers, provide the block name or number if applicable. If the venue has multiple floors, note the floor number. Additionally, identify where the live caricature artist can park their vehicle for unloading and, if needed, where they can park it for the duration of the event. Sharing a location pin via WhatsApp for the exact workstation site is also beneficial.
Regarding workstation requirements, ensure the workstation is not placed in designated smoking or vaping areas. Position it close to where people are socializing for maximum entertainment, but avoid obstructing traffic flow at exits, entrances, or hallways.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I provide a portable ring light with an extension cable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

There isn’t really a best gig because each one is a unique treasure chest of vibrant entertainment! But, there was one that stood out, picture this: laughter echoing, music pulsating, and guests gathering around my workstation, infusing the air with their infectious energy. Imagine a guest lying on the floor, adding to the merry chaos while I sketch away. Then, out of the blue, he orchestrates a surprise caricature contest, with five eager participants sketching the caricaturist as the model. And to cap it off, the bride herself selects the winning masterpiece. It was a scene straight out of a feel-good movie, a moment forever etched in memory!
I dare not crown any venue as the "best," for each holds its own enchanting charm.

What's your favourite type of event?

My favourite type of event are weddings, with their melodious tunes and fairy-tale settings that steal my heart. Yet, corporate events offer a different thrill—I dive into the team's spirit, becoming part of their world in a way that's simply exhilarating.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

My journey as a live caricaturist began as a daring leap in 2015, trading my role as a television motion graphic designer for the vibrant world of hand-drawn art. Fuelled by the booming demand for live entertainment, I launched Live Cartoon Portraits, driven by a passion to create unforgettable moments.
Traveling far and wide, I revel in the beauty of the countryside, free from the chaos of city life. It's a feast for the senses—gourmet delights, live music, and an infectious buzz that fuels my creativity.

But the best part lies in touching hearts and sparking joy. Seeing the sheer delight on people's faces as they receive their caricatures, or witnessing tears of happiness at a cherished memory immortalized on paper—it's pure bliss!

What do I love most about my job?

Let me give you just a glimpse of why I adore this job—it's like trying to capture the tip of an exhilarating iceberg! People often ask, "Is this really your job?" And you know why? Because it's anything but ordinary. It's an adventure, filled with fun, entertainment, and immense satisfaction!

At every event, I'm showered with praise as I sketch away—kind compliments, warm hugs of appreciation, and a flood of glowing comments on social media, celebrating not just my artistic skill as a caricaturist, but also the special touch my live entertainment service adds to their occasion. They proudly display their caricatures in offices and homes, and even set them as profile pictures. Tell me, does the average office worker get this much love and attention? It's no wonder I'm utterly captivated by this extraordinary job!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Upon arriving at the venue two hours early, I organize logistics and set up my workspace for a relaxed start to the session. Drawing from past experiences, I offer suggestions to improve service success, including timing and setup locations. I carefully arrange the setup for optimal visibility and flow, considering the venue's surroundings. At weddings, I start sketching during the canapé period for about an 1 - 2 hours, then briefly relocate to the reception hall, where I'm already set up with lighting and electrical connections. There's a complimentary hour offered for speeches before I resume sketching to fulfill the booked time.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I'm happy to entertain outside as long as my workstation is sheltered from natural elements like direct sunlight, rain, or strong wind. Finally, my workstation must be positioned on stable, level, and dry ground.
