Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I require approximately 2m × 2m of clear, level performance space and access to one standard 13A mains socket nearby. A safe, dry, sheltered area is essential for outdoor performances. I provide my own sound equipment and would appreciate nearby parking and reasonable access for unloading and setup.

What information do you require about a venue?

Please provide the venue address, approximate guest numbers, whether the performance is indoors or outdoors, available performance space, power supply location and any sound restrictions or noise limiters. Details of parking, loading access and setup times are also helpful.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I provide my own PA system, microphones, mixer and guitar equipment, suitable for small to medium-sized events. Standard sound equipment, setup and soundcheck are included in my quoted price. I can provide my own lighting upon request. Larger venues may require additional sound equipment, which can be discussed in advance.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes! I can play suitable background music through my PA system before and between live sets, helping maintain the atmosphere throughout your event. Playlists can be tailored to your preferences. Please note this is a background music service rather than a full DJ performance, and music before the booked performance may incur an additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One of my favourite gigs was performing live music and hosting karaoke at a corporate Christmas celebration for over 150 guests. Seeing everyone getting involved, singing along and enjoying themselves was brilliant!

I’ve also loved performing at venues across Cumbria, particularly the intimate pubs where you can really connect with the audience. For me, the best venue is always one where the crowd is up for a great night!

What's your favourite type of event?

I love private parties and celebrations where everyone is there to have a fantastic time! There’s nothing better than starting with a few familiar songs and gradually getting the whole room singing along. I particularly enjoy events where I can interact with guests, take requests and make the performance feel personal.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

My performing background started in musical theatre, where I’ve spent over a decade appearing in productions, developing my vocals and learning how to entertain an audience. I’ve played a wide variety of roles and received nominations for regional theatre awards.

I started performing professionally as a solo singer-guitarist in 2025, beginning with local pub gigs in Cumbria. Since then, I’ve expanded into private parties, corporate celebrations and a growing range of live entertainment.

Musical theatre gave me the confidence and stage presence, while gigging has allowed me to bring my love of indie, rock and pop music to new audiences!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My biggest influence is Sam Fender. I love his storytelling, powerful vocals and the way his songs connect with people. I’m also hugely influenced by Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Queen, Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters.

If I had to choose one favourite artist, it would definitely be Sam Fender.

The greatest song of all time? That’s almost impossible, but I’d have to give it to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. The songwriting, harmonies, theatricality and sheer ambition are incredible. It’s practically a musical in one song! I’ve a rejuvenated appreciation for it after appearing as a lead role in We Will Rock You The Musical - a musical made up of entirely Queen songs!

Do you offer anything beyond a traditional acoustic performance?

Yes! Alongside my standard singer-guitarist performances, I can offer themed indie and Britpop nights, musical theatre favourites, swing-inspired entertainment, Christmas music and interactive karaoke experiences. I also use rhythmic percussion and looping where appropriate to create a fuller live sound.

What makes Harry Basnett Music different?

My background in musical theatre brings something extra to my live performances: stage presence, storytelling and a genuine love of entertaining people.

I’m not just there to play through a setlist. I love interacting with guests, taking requests and creating those moments where the whole room joins in. Whether it’s an intimate celebration or a lively corporate event, my goal is to make the entertainment feel personal and memorable.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive around 60 minutes before the performance to unload, set up my equipment and complete a soundcheck.

My standard performance options are one 60-minute set, two 45-minute sets or two 60-minute sets, usually with a short break between performances.

I’m happy to discuss alternative timings to suit your event, including background music before and between sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! I’m happy to perform outdoors for garden parties, weddings, festivals and other celebrations, provided there’s a safe, dry and sheltered performance area.

I’ll need a flat, stable surface, suitable protection from rain and direct sunlight, and access to a safe mains power supply. Outdoor performances are subject to suitable weather conditions to protect guests and electrical equipment.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Definitely! I love tailoring my setlists to each event and encouraging guests to get involved.

With a repertoire of over 150 songs spanning indie, pop, rock and party classics, there’s plenty to choose from. Clients are welcome to share their favourite artists, request particular songs or suggest the atmosphere they’d like to create.

I also take spontaneous requests during performances wherever possible and can discuss learning special songs in advance for an additional fee.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

The feedback I value most is when people tell me how much they’ve enjoyed the atmosphere and audience interaction.

I aim to bring energy, personality and a strong connection with the crowd to every performance, whether it’s a relaxed acoustic set or a lively evening of singalong favourites.

I particularly love hearing that guests who weren’t expecting to sing along ended up joining in by the end of the night!

Can you tailor your performance to suit my event?

Absolutely! Every event is different, so I work with clients to create the right atmosphere. Whether you’re after relaxed acoustic background music, indie and Britpop anthems or an energetic party set full of singalongs, I’ll tailor the music to suit your guests and occasion.

Can you learn a special song for our wedding or celebration?

Of course! If there’s a meaningful song you’d love performed for a first dance, birthday surprise or special moment, I’m happy to discuss learning it in advance. This is subject to suitability, preparation time and an agreed additional fee.
