Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Upstage rear:
Center: Drums on a riser
Stage left: Keyboard & Bass
Stage right: Percussion and Electric Guitar amps
Midstage right: Horn section- Sax, Trumpet & Trombone
Frontstage center: Primary vocalist & Guitarist
Frontstage left: 2 Vocalists

We need a large stage size that can safely fit 10 musicians and their gear. A drum riser is preferred to improve visibility, sound and projection if possible. A minimum of 6-8 independent monitors. Backline is always a plus but not necessary. High quality mics for vocals and horns. Guaranteed parking spaces. A 3-hour prior Load-In/Setup and Soundcheck. Water is always appreciated!

What information do you require about a venue?

We would like the Lead person's contact information ahead of time. Also, the physical stage specs, 'green room' or a private musicians area, the access point and parking information along with early access to the venue site.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Clients are responsible for all audio/visual hardware.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we're happy to play music from Spotify before the set.

Why do we arrive three hours before the performance?

We take our "shuttle to dancing" transition seriously! That three-hour window allows for a discreet load-in, a full line check, and a comprehensive sound check. This ensures that when your first guests walks in, the levels are perfect and the gear is tucked away.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Since our 2020 debut, Taproots has been tearing it up! The peak of our 2025 summer tour was easily the high-energy set at "The Big E" in Springfield, MA. While that show brought the massive crowds, "Wormtown Music Festival" remains their true home base, having welcomed the band back every year since 2023.

What's your favourite type of event?

While we love the energy of every stage, private events hold a special place in our hearts. There's nothing like watching a room transform. Starting with a subtle, soulful shuffle and building into a high-energy dance floor that stays packed from the first note to the very last.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Taproots was born in the heart of the pandemic. A time when our stage was the living room and our only connection was through the screen. Once the world reopened, we brought that pent-up energy to the real world, evolving from home recorded sessions to a staples of the local scene. Today, you can find us everywhere from university campuses and town festivals to packed nightclubs and intimate private events.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Carlos Santana: His distinctive fusion or Latin rhythms, blues, and rock. - 'Oye Como Va'
Pedrito Martinez: His high energy, fusion of traditional Afro-Cuban religious rhythms and modern jazz-funk. -'Que Palo'
Cimafunk: Afro-Cuban sounds like Son And Rumba with "funkadelic" grooves. -'Me Voy'
Bob Marley and the Wailers: A global anthem of unity and peace. -'One Love'

What kind of vibe can we expect from a Taproots performance?

We typically start with a soulful, atmospheric groove that invites people in, and gradually build the energy until the entire room is a high-voltage dance floor. Whether it's a nightclub or a private event, the energy stays peaked from the first note to the final encore.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We want all events to run perfectly, which is why we always arrive three hours early to get our gear set up and dialed in. When it comes to the music, we're flexible! We typically perform either two 45-minute sets or one continuous 90-minute show. We've found these lengths are the 'sweet spot' for keeping guests on the dance floor, but we are more than happy to adjust our timing to match your vision.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We love the vibe of an open-air show! From town festivals to backyard celebrations, we are more than happy to perform outdoors and bring our high-energy sound to your favorite venue under the sun or stars.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Our setlists are strategically built to build momentum, but we're always happy to slot in a favorite repertoire pick where it hits the best.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients and audiences most frequently describe Taproots as an "uncontainable force of joy" that delivers a "culturally rich" and "emotionally raw" experience.

Does the band perform outdoors?

Absolutely! We are 100% at home on outdoor stages. From the massive stages at 'The Big E' to the festival woods of 'Wormtown' and local town commons, we love the energy of an open-air show. As long as there is a level surface and a reliable power source, we're ready to play under the sun or stars.
