JOSE HERRERA NEUMAN is a Venezuelan-born musician of Dutch nationality who started his professional career at the age of 16 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He is an accomplished piano and keyboard player, arranger, composer, and singer.
In 1990, he moved to Aruba, where he worked for a year as a solo acoustic piano player at the Bushiri Hotel and the Paradise Beach Village, performing entirely without accompanying musicians or electronic appliances. In 1991, he relocated to the Netherlands, performing an all-around repertoire (including jazz, pop, salsa, and merengue) with three different bands across several major cities, well-known hotels, and festivals. After a year in the Netherlands, he travelled across Europe. In Italy, he attended a summer festival workshop by invitation from the Berklee College of Music. He also toured Belgium and Germany with the Silhouette band and performed on Stena Line luxury cruise ships between the Netherlands and England with the Los Vegas band. In 1992, he was named one of the 10 finalists out of 200 contestants in the Midi Award Festival, patronized by Atari and Roland, making him the only Latin contestant to achieve that position.
In 1993, he returned to Aruba, where he spent five years performing in five-star hotels with various musical acts. These included the Hyatt Regency with Eduardo Maya, the Holiday Inn with the Coco Loco band, a duo with guitarist Martin Buitenweg (of Chichi Peralta), and the Costa Linda Beach Resort with Amy Mendez and Richard Holmond. During this period, he also composed soundtracks for two theater plays.
In 1998, he moved to Medellín, Colombia, serving as the regular keyboard player for the Corporación Medellín de Jazz for one year. He also composed the soundtrack for the short film “Suele Suceder”, which received a special mention at a Spanish film festival. In 1999, he toured Spain with Amparo Sandino’s band (former vocalist and guitarist for Carlos Vives).
Returning to Aruba in 2000, he formed the band Vision alongside singer Lucre Houtman and drummer Richard Holmond, performing as the group's keyboardist, arranger, and composer. The trio held a residency at the Radisson Hotel for a year and a half before performing on Princess Cruises ships for approximately two years starting in 2002. Back in Aruba, he arranged the music for the Let’s Go Latin show at the Crystal Casino Theatre.
In 2004, he moved to Spain, performing with various bands and orchestras across the country. In 2005, he relocated to China, where he performed extensively throughout the country for 15 years until 2020. During this era, he also performed on SkySea Cruise Line ships traveling from China to Japan and Vietnam as a guest artist alongside Argentinian singer Daniela Bessia.
In 2021, he returned to Aruba, performing at premier venues including the Marriott, the Hyatt, Papillon restaurant, and various private events as both a solo artist and with bands. In 2022, he worked as a solo musician in Nha Trang, Vietnam. In 2023, he served as a solo musician (singing, piano, and keyboards) on board Viking Cruises in Paris, France.
Since 2023, he has been based in Hong Kong, performing at high-profile venues such as the Rosewood Hotel, Maggie Choo's, The Iron Fairies, and Dragonfly, as well as major events including the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2025.
