My name is Richie Lij, and to put it simply; I sing to entertain!
When I sing, I always aim for those listening to be buzzing and excited from the concert, and eager to hear more. There's more to live music than just singing, it's creating that genuine and fun atmosphere, which is something I strive for every time I walk up on stage.
Music can communicate anything, from love to hate, and sadness to energy, and in a Richie Lij show, the audience will feel all the emotions, and walk away hopefully feeling happier and more excited than they did walking into it!
I own all of my equipment, and have the flexibility to set up in small and large spaces. I can sing with backing tracks, or I can sing with a loop station. A loop station allows me to build a song live in front of everyone, creating the parts of each song in an exciting, anticipating way.
I achieve this through a range of percussion instruments, and a keyboard. This allows for every song I play to have a unique feel to it, but also not stray far enough from the original, beloved song!
I sing songs that everyone knows and can sing along to, ranging all the way from modern sad songs, to 80's rock songs. I love to get the audience to help me out with a song occasionally too, whether it's the "La Da Da's!" in I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), the "Oi's" in AC/DC's TNT, or even the chanting in Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again!
I genuinely love being able to jump up on that stage, and truly add that something extra to someone's day; to entertain.

I only need at least one power outlet within a reasonable range to the stage, and I'm all set!
I would require knowing the space of the stage I'm performing on, and approximately the size of the venue.
I provide all of the sound equipment required.
I have plenty of Spotify playlists to play in between sets, full of recognisable songs that fit the mood.
The biggest gig I've performed at would have been an open day for Planet Fitness! I reckon it's also been my favourite performance so far, being able to play a lot of older rock songs, and getting the crowd into things a few times!
I love singing at any type of event so far, but the events where people feel comfortable enough to join in and sing along are always a great time!
I started gigging at the beginning of this year. I'm trying to make a career out of singing and posting music online, so I'm working towards gigging and performing live to be my main form of income!
Stephen Sanchez is the reason I want to be a singer/songwriter, he has such a unique, talented voice, and I've loved his songs for years and years! Him combined with all of the older artists like AC/DC, Cold Chisel + Jimmy Barnes, John Denver, The Angels, Bon Jovi etc, have really cemented what I want to achieve in life. To entertain, and put on a show!
I'll typically arrive an hour to an hour and a half early to get everything set up, and make sure there's no issues, and I can do sets from 1 hour to 4 and a half at the moment!
More than happy to sing outdoors!
The clients absolutely can choose songs / genres for me to play, I'm happy to learn anything, and even make it into my own if I need.
I've gotten nothing but positive feedback so far, saying I bring a lot of energy and personality to the stage, and am not afraid to get into what I'm singing.
I can do both, depending on what you're looking for. I have heaps of practiced backing track materials, but I also have a loop station, which will allow me to build up almost any song in the world with my percussion and my keyboard! I can also play songs simply on a piano, if needed!
