Crawford Lyons is a Lead Guitarist and Vocalist who was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He cut his teeth playing in both original and cover bands across Nashville’s vibrant scene before heading to Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Bouncing from genre to genre, Crawford found his groove in rock, country, and jazz, influenced by the diverse sounds he encountered along the way. After Berklee, he returned home to Nashville, where he lit up the stages of Broadway’s legendary circuit.
His musical journey didn’t stop there. Crawford took his talents international, hopping aboard Holland America Line’s cruise ships as a guitarist, eventually stepping into the spotlight as a lead vocalist and band leader. His travels around the world exposed him to a melting pot of musical styles and collaborators, shaping his own unique sound while staying true to his roots – think Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steely Dan, and George Harrison.
Crawford believes that every style of music has something special and unique about it that captivates its listener in a different way. Crawford’s first ever self-produced solo album, “Fluent in Treason”, exemplifies this with every track being completely different in genre to show the unique musical captivities from around the world. His goal with this album was for everything to be unexpected and for the listener to be unable to predict what is to happen next from song to song, much like a good book. Jazz pianist, Kenny Warner, describes in his book “Effortless Mastery” that the ability for a musician to express freely from conscious thought or mental construct is to “Speak in treason, Fluently”. With all of the philosophical jargon now behind us, Crawford invites you to listen for yourself.
