Josh Bennett is a genre-bending multi-instrumentalist celebrated for his deep musicality, curiosity, and ability to make complex traditions accessible. A seasoned performer on guitar, mandolin, fiddle, sitar, dilruba, tabla, bouzouki, and more, his musical reach spans folk, bluegrass, Celtic, Indian classical, funk, and Bollywood psychedelia. He’s graced major festivals such as WOMADelaide, Woodford, National Folk Festival, Saptak (India), and Hillside (Canada), and is co-founder of the boundary-pushing ensembles BluGuru, The Bombay Royale, and Sadhana.
Josh’s musical training is rooted in depth and tradition—he studied sitar under Professor Michael Junius and was later accepted as a disciple of Smt. Manju Mehta, a student of Ravi Shankar. Humble, charming, and funny, and an exceptionally gifted musician, Josh thrives on connecting musical dots, between cultures, styles, and players.

General (minimum) tech requirements: One line (XLR), One vocal mic (Beta58A or sim). Some instruments (eg tabla) require instrument mic (Beta57A or sim) on short boom. For Indian music performances, a raised platform is required, ideally covered in something that looks nice (colourful rug or similar)
For local (Adelaide) gigs, sound and lighting can be provided for small shows (up to 100pp audience)
