We need a performance space of at least 6m wide and 4m deep with power supplies on each corner of the stage. We require 4 parking spaces and a green room that locks with a clothing rack, full-length mirror, and one chair per person. We require bottled drinking water before and during the performance.
We require the Google maps pin to the location and the venue name. We need to know if there are any specific requirements regarding bringing in equipment, especially if this means providing a list of our equipment beforehand and/or having to load in our gear through the security entrance or a loading bay. It is helpful to know if the venue has specific rules regarding times we would not be allowed to make any sounds (prayer times, video presentations or meetings happening in adjacent rooms, cut-off at the end of the night).
For events in the UAE we can provide a small PA system and a simple lighting rig. This setup is suitable for garden parties or intimate events up to a max of 60 pax.
We're happy to play background music before and between our sets that is in keeping with our general style and the mood we create.
We've had the pleasure of ringing in the New Year at Anantara Hotel & Resort on The Palm in Dubai on multiple occasions. It is an honour to be the centrepiece of the gala event and a joy to bring well-loved favourites to such a large audience of all ages. Of course, the fireworks in the background are icing on the cake!
Our favourite type of event, no matter the number of guests, is one where the audience sings along with us. We love knowing that we're touching people, and the energy created by singing together can't be beat!
We come from a variety of countries, though all studied music at college/conservatory/university. We met in Dubai where we perform hundreds of residency, corporate, and private gigs each year.
We love the Ella Fitzgerald songbook: there are so many songs in it that people recognize (all over the world), and not only is she a legendary vocalist, but her ability to inject FUN into her singing is an inspiration! We also try to connect with our audiences by keeping the musicality high, but try to bring joy and lightheartedness to what we do.
On gigs where the PA and backline are provided, we maximum 30 minutes to set up our instruments and then approximately 60 minutes for soundcheck. We play 120 minutes per performance, usually divided up as 3*40-minute or 2*60-minute sets, but are happy to adjust these slightly depending on the other elements happening at the event.
We are happy to play outside in temperatures up to 35C. No matter the temperature, we require shade during the daytime, and a dry, flat level surface.
Because our repertoire is so broad, we do appreciate when our clients give us general guidelines as to the mood they're trying to create. Receiving instructions like 'classic jazz, more background/ambiance during welcome cocktail' or 'well-known Top 40 songs from the 90s to today for dancing' is SUPER helpful. We are also open to learning 1 or 2 specific songs, and understand its importance, especially at weddings.
Beyond that, we perform at our best when clients trust us to create the setlists that will carry their guests through the arc of the evening. Specifically, because we rearrange so many songs in our repertoire, our songlist can be misleading! When you see Creep by Radiohead on our list, it's no longer an intense grunge song, but a funky and upbeat one with a happy bounce that makes people sing and dance along.
