About / Biography

I'm Steven Martin, a jazz and swing vocalist from just outside Belfast, Northern Ireland, and I'm proud to bring the timeless music of Frank Sinatra to theatres, festivals, hotels, clubs, and special events with a show that celebrates the golden age of swing.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of performing twice at the Grand Opera House Belfast, as well as appearing at venues including Camp and Furnace Liverpool, The Folklore Rooms, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Now, I'm looking forward to bringing Something Like Sinatra to even more audiences.

Whether you're looking for elegant background entertainment or a full evening theatre show featuring classics such as My Way, New York, New York, Fly Me to the Moon, and many more, I'd love to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

The best gig i have done so far is a performance at camp and furnace in Liverpool as part of primal live Liverpool's biggest indepedent music festival. it was great to see the reaction from the crowd, and perform with some other amazing artists that are the future of the music industry.

What's your favourite type of event?

My favourite type of event to perform at is **theatre shows**. There's something special about stepping onto a stage where people have come specifically to enjoy live music. It allows me to create an immersive experience, tell the stories behind the songs, and really connect with the audience. Seeing people sing along, smile, and leave with lasting memories is what makes performing so rewarding.

That said, I also love festivals, corporate events, and private functions—every audience brings its own unique atmosphere, and it's a privilege to share timeless music wherever I perform.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My biggest musical influences are **Frank Sinatra**, **Dean Martin**, **Sammy Davis Jr.**, **Tony Bennett**, and **Bobby Darin**. Each brought something unique to jazz and swing—whether it was Sinatra's unmatched phrasing and storytelling, Dean Martin's effortless charm, Sammy Davis Jr.'s incredible versatility, Tony Bennett's vocal elegance, or Bobby Darin's infectious energy.

Without question, **Frank Sinatra** is my favourite artist. His voice, stage presence, and ability to make every lyric feel personal are second to none. He didn't just sing songs—he told stories, and that's something I always strive to do in my own performances.

For me, the greatest song of all time is **"Fly Me to the Moon."** It's the perfect jazz standard: timeless, sophisticated, and instantly recognisable. Whether performed with a full big band or a small jazz ensemble, it captures everything I love about the Great American Songbook and never fails to connect with an audience.
