A wireless handheld microphone with a spare, a PA suited to the room, and a 3.5mm or DI input so I can play beats from a phone or laptop. Foldback or a monitor if its a large theatre or venue. That is the whole list.

Load-in directions and where to park, and whether there's a sound limiter. Beyond that: what PA and microphones are already in the room and whether someone is operating them, whether there's a screen or projector if the booking needs one, where there's power near the performance area in case I'm bringing my own gear, where the performance area sits in relation to the audience, what's running immediately before and after me, roughly how many guests, and whether any of it is outdoors.

For an awards night or a hosted event I'll also want the running order and the list of names, award categories or products I'll be working with, because that material goes into the improvisation on the night.

Sound, yes. I own a PA and can bring it, along with a screen and projector for the formats that need one. That means a school hall, a community space or a regional site with no equipment is still a straightforward booking. In a larger room or on a festival stage I'll use the house system where there is one.

Lighting, no. I don't carry any, and none of what I do depends on it.

Almost none. Roving freestyle through a crowd needs no dedicated space at all, just a microphone and the ability to move. A stage set needs a clear area of about two metres by two metres.

I love all kinds of events! however an intimate comedy show where i can connect on a personal level with each individual in the crowd is always special, we share the laughs together!

I started out in Perth's club scene in 2014, MCing over live DJ sets across drum and bass, dubstep, garage, hip hop and grime. That's where the freestyling got built, thousands of hours of thinking on my feet in front of a crowd. It led into my own music and a WAM Award for Best Hip Hop Song in 2017.

The comedy came out of that. In 2021 I started Whose Rhyme with comedian Daniel Delby, turning freestyle into a live improvised show, and that took us into festivals: ten combined Fringe seasons across Perth, Adelaide and three years at the Edinburgh Fringe, plus headline runs at Top Secret Comedy Club in London, the Comedy Store in Sydney and the Sit Down Comedy Club in Brisbane.

In 2026 Daniel and I reached the Semi-Finals of Britain's Got Talent, finishing second in the national public vote with a completely improvised performance at the Apollo Theatre.

These days it's 100+ shows a year across corporate events, festivals, mine sites and schools.

Nothing I perform exists before the moment it happens. There's no set list, no material and no rehearsed bits. The audience gives me words, names, objects, whatever they've got, and it comes straight back as rap in real time. Your event gets a performance that has never happened before and will never happen again, and the room is in it rather than watching it.

Most acts tailor the edges. For me it's the whole product: your team, your brand, the year the business has had, the in-jokes, the award winners rapped about as they come off stage.

Ten years and more than 10,000 hours of freestyling sit behind that, and Simon Cowell called it the fastest freestyle rap he has ever seen in his life.

It's also one person with a microphone. No band, no backline, no long soundcheck, so I'm the easiest thing on your run sheet.

I arrive an hour before the performance to set up.

Set lengths, which are flexible and I'll shape to the running order:
10 to 15 minutes, a club spot
20 minutes, a corporate set or a main stage festival spot
20 to 30 minutes, a festival or theatre bill
30, 45 or 60 minutes, a keynote or workplace wellbeing session
55 minutes, a school session, which is one school period
Up to a full hour, a headline show
Full event hosting and MC work, from the welcome through to the close

Yes, and a lot of my work is outdoors. Oktoberfest in the Gardens Perth four years running, Scarborough Sunset Markets, main stage MC at FeNaClNG in the Pilbara four years running, City of Perth Illuminate at Yagan Square, and Sydney Comedy Festival's main stage at Tumbalong Park.

What I ask for outdoors is shade over the performance area, a flat level surface, power close by, and wind protection on the microphone.
