Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A performance space of approximately 2m x 2m is sufficient. I use a high-quality battery-powered sound system, allowing for flexible setup both indoors and outdoors without the need for a power supply. Easy access to the performance area and nearby parking is appreciated.

What information do you require about a venue?

Details of the venue location, access and parking arrangements are helpful, along with a brief outline of the event schedule. Please also advise if the performance is indoors or outdoors, and whether there are any sound limiters in place.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes — I am fully self-contained and provide a compact, high-quality PA system suitable for most venues. This is designed to deliver clear, balanced sound while remaining visually unobtrusive. Additional equipment can be arranged if required.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes — I can provide background music before, between and after live sets using a carefully curated playlist. I also offer an extended DJ-style service if required, allowing the music to continue seamlessly throughout the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One particularly memorable highlight was performing at a private event for the Sultan of Brunei’s wife. It was a beautifully organised occasion and a great example of the kind of elegant, high-end atmosphere that steel pan can bring to an event.
I’ve also performed at a wide range of venues across the UK and internationally, from intimate weddings to large corporate events, and always aim to create the right feel for each setting.

What's your favourite type of event?

Weddings are always a favourite, particularly drinks receptions and outdoor events where the steel pan really comes into its own and helps create a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere. That said, I also really enjoy corporate events and private parties, where the music can be tailored to suit anything from background ambience to a more lively, social setting.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I’ve been performing professionally for over 30 years, working across weddings, corporate events, private parties and international engagements.
Alongside live performance, I’ve also had a long career as a musician and composer, with my work featured across television and media, which has helped shape a strong sense of musicality and professionalism in everything I do.
My steel pan performances have developed into a refined, reliable offering that works seamlessly in a wide range of settings, from relaxed outdoor receptions to more formal, high-end events.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I’ve been influenced by a wide range of artists over the years, from the rhythmic and melodic traditions of Caribbean music through to jazz and soul. Artists like Stevie Wonder, George Benson and Pat Metheny have all had an impact on my musical approach.
It’s hard to pick a single favourite, but I’ve always admired artists who combine strong musicianship with a real sense of feel and atmosphere.
As for the greatest song of all time — that’s an impossible question, but something like Isn’t She Lovely captures so much joy, melody and musicality in one piece.

Can you perform outdoors or in unusual locations?

Yes — I use a high-quality battery-powered sound system, which allows me to perform in a wide range of locations without needing access to power. This makes me particularly well suited to outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions and venues where flexibility is important.

How long does it take to set up?

Set-up is quick and straightforward, typically taking around 10 - 15 minutes. I aim to keep everything as efficient and unobtrusive as possible, working around your event schedule and venue requirements.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Set up time is around 10 -15 minutes. I always aim to arrive by an hour before the event itself.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as provision is made to protect the pan from direct sunlight.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients are very welcome to have input into the music, and I’m always happy to tailor the set to suit the style and atmosphere of the event.
I have a wide and carefully curated repertoire that works well across different settings, and I’m also happy to include a small number of specific requests where possible.
Alternatively, many clients are happy for me to read the room and select the music on the day, which ensures everything flows naturally.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients often describe my performances as creating a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere that really enhances the feel of their event.
I’m often told that the music adds something a little different and memorable, while still sitting perfectly in the background when needed. Professionalism, reliability and ease of working together are also things that come up regularly.
