The best venue we’ve ever worked at is the Sheraton Miramar Hotel. The location is stunning, the acoustics are excellent, and the staff treated us with absolute professionalism and kindness. When a venue supports the musicians so well, the music flows effortlessly — it was a real joy to play there.

Our favourite type of event is one where music truly matters — whether it’s a wedding, an intimate gathering, or a cultural celebration. We love playing for people who listen with their hearts, who sing along, dance, or simply let the music be part of their story. That’s what makes it special.

Our previous experience includes performing at weddings, private events, and cultural celebrations in Spain and abroad. We both studied music at the same university, and since becoming a couple, our musical connection has only grown.

We started gigging thanks to that natural chemistry — the way we understand each other musically made everything flow. Friends started inviting us to play at their events, and little by little, MATIZ was born as a shared project rooted in love, harmony, and a deep passion for music.

We've been most influenced by Latin American music in all its richness — from folklore to nueva canción — as well as by jazz and pop-rock. Artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald, Tom Jobim, and Pedro Aznar have all shaped our sound in different ways.

Our favourite artist? It’s hard to choose just one, but Pedro Aznar holds a special place for the way he blends poetry, musicality, and deep emotion.

The greatest song of all time? That’s never easy to answer, but “Yesterday” by The Beatles is a timeless piece that continues to move people across generations — simple, powerful, and beautifully written.
