Reviews of Marcia Bamberg Swing Quartet

It was truly a great concert in the Koepel in Heiloo: the Marcia Bamberg Swing Quartet supplemented by two virtuoso musicians: Tim Kliphuis on violin and Mozes Rosenberg on guitar. The band's permanent lead guitarist, John Ligthart, is also a great talent. Daniel Gueli as bassist gives sparkling solid energy to the whole, nothing is too much for him! Ronald Weel is the reliable rhythm guitarist that a band cannot do without and Marcia Bamberg can really sing! What a fine voice and every note is right. She knows what she's doing and the band as a whole brings a nice atmosphere and surprising moments. It was a concert where you don't start thinking about other things for a moment. Perfect!

Last Sunday in the great ambiance of the Cultuurkoepel in Heiloo we visited the concert of Marcia Bamberg with her Swing Quartet. Wonderful singing by Marcia with a number of French songs in Django Reinhardt style. We really enjoyed it and the enthusiasm was obvious. In addition to Marcia's Quartet we could enjoy the virtuoso violinist Tim Kliphuis, a perfect interpreter of the music of the French jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli. Moses Rosenberg was also in shape, nice fast guitar playing for this musician from the Rosenberg family. All in all a fantastic afternoon, with nice contact with the audience. Definitely worth repeating.

As a great lover of Gipsyjazz for over 40 years, I went to a great concert of the Marcia Bamberg Swing Quartet last weekend with the addition of two world famous musicians on violin and guitar, Tim Kliphuis and Mozes Rosenberg. The six-piece formation brought a great ode to gipsyjazz with beautiful solos on guitar and violin and also beautiful subdued numbers sung by Marcia Bamberg. It was a great experience and a recommendation for everyone who loves gypsy jazz to visit future concerts.

An atmospheric and Christmassy decorated theatre café forms the setting for this year's Yes Jazz Christmas Matinée. It is pleasantly busy. Many music lovers choose the warmth of the Yes Jazz theatre café of De Hofnar on this cold Sunday afternoon.

Gipsy jazz is popular and Christmas music always goes down well. When these two come together, you can of course count on a special afternoon. And that is what it will be. The music is beautiful. A beautiful singer and three excellent musicians ensure a beautiful Christmas Matinée. This quartet clearly shows that many different types of music can be cast in the mould of the gipsy style. Django Reinhardt resonates in everything. The tight foundation is audible in Ronald Weel's rhythm guitar and on Daniël Gueli's double bass. You can build on this. The solo guitar and the singer provide the leading parts.

Marcia Bamberg stands out because of her clear voice: crystal clear and velvety soft where necessary. The improvisations of the solo guitarist, John Lighart, are smooth and inventive. Sometimes very virtuoso.

The repertoire is especially very versatile. From French chansons to well-known jazz standards. Of course, the big Christmas hits are not missing. Night and Day, After you’ve gone, but also Belle Histoire and La vie en rose come in beautiful arrangements from the Yes Jazz stage. Christmas has started well!

This time, Marcia Bamberg Swing Quartet was our guest at our special concert stage. Their passion and warmth radiated from the small stage.
The audience was close to the Quartet, which created a direct and almost personal experience. It felt like a living room concert, but with a great professional performance that you would expect at a larger venue. From the beginning to the last applause, it was an impressive performance, in which both quiet, atmospheric ballads and rhythmic numbers were alternated.

Marcia's beautiful voice that combined wonderfully with the sounds of the guitars and double bass. The quartet not only knows how to shine musically, but also the contact with the audience is special! They bring an evening-filling program full of beautiful numbers and moments of interaction, which create an intimate and cozy atmosphere.

Marcia Bamberg and her Swing Quartet opened the Django Gypsy Festival in The Hague. Excellent vocals as expected from a vocal coach, gives swing jazz another layered dimension.

Marcia has a seasoned professional band and most are familiar with the bass player Daniël Gueli, who also works / plays with many other artists like Paulus Schafer, Stochelo Rosenberg, Mozes Rosenberg, and many others here in the EU. Daniël is also a very nice guy along with his talent.

Marcia Bamberg gave a fantastic concert with her swing quartet on Friday evening, October 13. Marcia managed to continuously hold the attention of the audience with her beautiful voice and warm appearance and the musical accompaniment by John Ligthart on guitar, among others, was surprising and catchy. Afterwards, Marcia and 'her' men rightly received a standing ovation. Highly recommended for other (intimate) stages.

A fantastic band with a great singer invited to my birthday party. Casual and good atmosphere makers. Professional and a singer with a wonderful voice. Sung my favorite song 'Smile' on request. My guests and I enjoyed ourselves. To be repeated!

The band created a cozy atmosphere at my husband's fiftieth birthday party. Young and old enjoyed the music. The level of all band members is very high. Marcia sings flawlessly and makes contact with the audience in a natural way. Highly recommended!

The Swing Quartet played wonderful music at the vernissage of my exhibition in De Breek in Oosthuizen. High quality. And especially for me, my favorite song from the Andrew sisters ' bei mir bist du shein' . Fantastic.

We were very happy and impressed with Marcia and the band, they got everyone dancing and added a great vibe to our wedding reception. We would recommend and hope to see them performing again.

Beautiful atmospheric location and a very relaxed performance by the quartet! It was as if you could join them at their home for an evening full of fun anecdotes, fun amongst each other and fun making music. The Christmas songs were refreshing in the gipsy jazz style, nicely interspersed with their regular set! It was impossible to stay seated...

A beautiful performance in the Lisettezaal of cultural center De Brink in Obdam on Sunday December 15th. A beautiful interplay of 4 musical friends, who played alternating gypsy swings. With personal stories told by Marcia , it was a true theater performance. The audience enjoyed the musicians and their playing. Recommended.

Saturday December 14 we went to the Christmas concert of the Marcia Bamberg Swing Quartet in the old pumping station in Heerhugowaard.
Great, atmospheric evening with top musicians and the beautiful, lived-in voice of Marcia Bamberg. Gipsy Jazz, the way you like to hear it. Amazing how Christmas hits and French chansons were arranged in the swinging style of Django Reinhardt. We can expect a lot from this Quartet! Recommended.
