Michael Chen is a Vancouver-based professional guitarist with over a decade of experience performing at corporate events and weddings. Active since 2010, he has worked across a wide range of live settings including corporate functions, wedding receptions and ceremonies, casinos, restaurants, festivals, and private events.
He is a dependable and adaptable performer, comfortable providing background music, accompanying singers, or performing as part of a band. Michael is experienced working from charts and collaborating with event planners, ensuring smooth, stress-free performances tailored to each event.
Michael also brings studio experience collaborating with singer-songwriters on arrangements and composition, and applies the same level of musicality and professionalism to every live engagement.

Yes I can provide music from Spotify before, after and between the sets, happy to choose music or let the client choose them.
I have experience playing in concerts for singers and celebrities from Hongkong and mainland China, stage sizes ranging from small or medium theaters to BC place. My favorite gig was held at the UBC Chan Centre , I was in the band for one of the most well known singers from Hongkong in the 90s.
I enjoy all sorts of events that I get to play in, my favorite is usually weddings or corporate parties, because it feels great to be the music for their special day.
I started gigging professionally around Vancouver when I joined a session band led by a well respected keyboardist and bandleader in the Chinese community, I have performed with the band at hundreds of parties, concerts and events around Vancouver and across Canada.
Michael Jackson has to be my first musical influence since my childhood. Always love having a hit like Billie Jean or Beat it in the sets.
Typically I always arrive at least one and a half hour early to set up and sound check. Usually I perform 2 or 3 hours sets with little breaks.
Happy to play outside but with cover and convenience of power supply.
Can definitely learn specific songs but usually limit to 5, clients are welcome to discuss a budget for more songs to be prepared.
Previous clients would describe the performances as well-presented, highly professional and great energy or soulful.
