Michael Gi is a singer, ordained minister, teacher of the word of God, and a freelance voice over talent based in San Diego CA. Originally from St. Louis MO, Michael was formerly managed by the late William (Bill) “Pop’s” Isles II, a member, and co-pioneer of the world renowned R&B group, the O’Jays. Michael has been singing and performing since the age of 5 when his mother [the late MaryHelen Wilford; a gospel in her own right] stood him on a box in church so that the people could see him as well as hear him. Upon opening his mouth -comments were made about him that he was truly a young soul with an old anointing! Throughout his journeys in delivering the gospel in song, he has been mentored by the O’Jays, the O’Neal Twins, Shirley Caesar, the Imperials, Russell Thompkins Jr. of the Stylistics, the Temptations, and Little Richard to name a few. Known for his ‘Soul- Gospel-Spirit-filled’ style approach to singing, he has the potential in becoming one of the industries brightest recording artists in gospel music. Michael Gi presents a smooth melodic and soulful voice flavored with a hard and raspy second and first tenor cover-tone. His soulfully sweet sounds are topped off with his dramatic style of delivery only to be framed with a dynamic display of his visual delivery of any song. Hearing and observing this young man, has brought many audiences to enjoy this mid-western born singer. Those that have been fortunate enough to witness his programs leave with not just a song, but a blessed experience! As a tribute to the O’Jays, and the people of God, he released his debut gospel single, ‘A Prayer of Peace’ on June 30, 2025. A song that was originally recorded by the O’Jays. He then released a second single on October 24, 2025 entitled “I’m a Child of The King”. A song originally written in the 1800s, but later revised by Rev. Marvin Yancy in the ’70’s, now reimagined by Michael Gi today. Michael Gi presents a smooth melodic and soulful voice flavored with a hard and raspy second and first tenor cover-tone. If I am bringing my own equipment, I will require information as to where the electrical outlets are in conjunction with the stage/performance area. My setup includes 1 Microphone (with Mic Stand), 1 Mixing Board (10 Channel), Yamaha Speakers (2),and 1 Floor Monitor. Since I am a Solo Artists, I will not be performing with an exclusive live band, but rather professionally made instrumental tracks. However, if there is a band available that wants to back me, I have no problem communicating with a live band since I have many years of experience touring with live bands.
I arrive at a minimum of 90 minutes before any performance or event begins to insure timely setup of equipment (if needed), sound check, communication with the sound engineer, stage manager, program director, church minister of music, or the emcee (whichever is applicable).
· If needed, I have my own PA system, mic stand, and microphone(s). This of course, should be communicated by the event coordinator if this equipment is needed.
· Since I am a solo artist, I usually perform with professionally made backing tracks. However, I am also very comfortable with performing and communicating with live musicians as well, since I have toured with various live bands throughout my career.

My best gig was the Gospel All-stars Showcase @ the Omni Hotel in St. Louis MO; it featured the Mighty Clouds of Joy, the Gospel Keynotes, and JAMES CLEVELAND just to name a few. The best venue I ever worked was the Anheusher-Bush Sea World Promotional Tour '93; the highlighted finale was at the Phoenician Resort, Phoenix AZ

Originally from St. Louis, Mo., but now residing in San Diego CA. I was formerly managed by the late Bill “Pops” Isles, whom was co-pioneer and original member of the world famous r&b group, the O’Jays. I've been singing and performing since the age of 5 when my mother stood me on a box in church –so that the people could see me as well as hear me. My first paid gig was receiving a "love offering" of $50 for singing a song entitled "Wrapped Up" at a church program when I was 8. As I began to sing comments were made that I was truly a young soul with an old anointing! Throughout my journeys delivering the Gospel in song… I appeared on the same venues with such artist as the late Rev. James Cleveland, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Imperials, The O’Neal Twins & The Interfaith Choir, The Soul Stirrers, Billy Davis Jr. of the Fifth Dimension, Walter Hawkins, and Jazz Artist, Gerald Albright –just to name a few.
My influences are Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Dennis Edwards of the Temptations, the O'Jays, Rance Allen, and the Winans. My favourite artist is Marvin Gaye; the greatest song of all time in my opinion is "What's Goin' On". Simply because even in this day-and-time, that song is still relevant.

Most gospel venues/spots are a minimum of 15-30 minute spots. However, I am always prepared for more or less.
I am happy to play outside as long as there is a safe flat surface, and there are adequate power outlets/supply that are close to the stage/platform area.
I usually have a set repertoire; but I will listen to suggestions or request; and if I know the song, and have the instrumental track for the requested song, I will perform it. If not, I will state so.
Real "Down-Home Singing". Just what we needed! I thought the days of passionate, soulful singers were a thing of the past. Well, I was wrong –because Michael Gi not only showed up to my event on time, but was ready to go! Upon gracing the stage, you could tell he was already warmed up, and ready to give a tremendous performance! His demeanor was none less than professional! ~Karen W. (Hired Michael Gi for a 4 of July Private Gathering in 2025)
Even though it is sometimes requested that the client be allowed to perform on stage with the artist... It is best that the client remain in an audience mode due to insurance liabilities.
