About / Biography

Minnie and The Moonrakers is a rhythm and blues quartet playing music inspired by the raw, powerful recordings of a bygone era. The vocalist, Siobhan O’Brien aka Minnie, is a soulful performer whose voice has been described as ‘gritty’ and her stage act as ‘untamed’. She is backed by: guitarist Greg Duncan Powell, renowned for his edge of the seat guitar riffing; bassist Rohan O’Farrell and drummer Scotty Sippel whose chunky rhythms set the foundation for an original musical gumbo.

The band has brought their brand of music to a host of festivals, events and venues across Australia. In 2024 they opened at the International Blues Festival, Canberra, ACT, and supported festival favourites 19-Twenty. In 2025 Minnie and The Moonrakers became regular artists onboard The Blues Train (Queenscliff, Vic), appeared at the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Spring Ditch Festival and North East Food and Wine Festival. Additionally they were invited to be part of the ongoing Blues Music Victoria Women In Blues initiative headed by internationally renowned blues musician Andrea Marr.
