MURAT USANMAZ
guitarist & composer & singer
Born in Istanbul, Murat Usanmaz continues his career in Italy. He began playing the guitar self-taught, without any professional guidance.
After graduating from the Istanbul University State Conservatory's Classical Guitar Department, he pursued concert studies at Paris's l’École Normale de Musique.
Usanmaz has performed concerts in numerous countries, including China, Russia, Algeria, Germany, France, Spain, Norway, Finland, Italy, Turkmenistan, Austria, Portugal, the Netherlands, and across Turkey.
He composed "Adiós Maestro" in memory of Paco de Lucía after the legendary guitarist’s passing. He premiered the piece at the International Seville Guitar Festival during a concert dedicated to Paco de Lucía's memory and later included it in his album "Yol."
Usanmaz is the first Turkish guitarist to perform Turkey's first guitar concerto, composed by Cemal Reşit Rey, and has premiered numerous other works.
In addition to his performances, he has hosted television programs and collaborated with various symphony orchestras to perform a diverse repertoire of guitar concertos.
As a writer for Guitar Magazine, where he once interviewed Maestro Paco de Lucía, he contributed articles on classical guitar.
In Spain, he released the solo guitar CD “Guitarra de Bach a Paco" and in Turkey, he produced the album "Yol," featuring his original compositions and lyrics.
In addition to his classical music concerts and recitals as a soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, Usanmaz performs chamber music with Murat Usanmaz I Classical Ensemble, where the guitar is the centerpiece alongside a woodwind quartet.
He also leads the "Flamenco de Anadolucía" project, which blends flamenco, Turkish music, and jazz elements in his compositions, collaborating with Spanish and Turkish musicians to perform worldwide.

I usually rely on the venue’s sound and lighting systems. However, I can provide my own sound and lighting equipment for an additional fee. This option is only available for venues near Catania.
Unfortunately, no. I do not provide Spotify or DJ services before or between my sets.
One of the most memorable experiences of my career was performing Rodrigo’s famous "Aranjuez Guitar Concerto" with the CRR Symphony at the Istanbul Harbiye Open-Air Theatre, a venue with a capacity of 5,000 people. This performance not only allowed me to showcase my artistry on a grand stage but also created an unforgettable connection with a large and appreciative audience. In addition, participating in numerous guitar festival concerts across various countries has brought me immense joy and fulfillment, enriching my career in every possible way.
My favourite type of event is performing in concert halls with excellent acoustics and open-air theatres that allow for an intimate connection with the audience. I also particularly enjoy VIP and cruise concerts — not only do they offer great financial rewards, but they are also prestigious opportunities that allow me to bring high-quality music to unique and exclusive audiences.
I started playing guitar on my own, driven by passion and curiosity. Later, I pursued formal education in Istanbul, Paris, and Sevilla, studying under accomplished teachers and immersing myself in diverse musical traditions. Over the years, I have built a career as a concert artist, performing solo and with orchestras internationally, continuously refining my craft and repertoire.
My musical style is deeply influenced by flamenco masters, especially Paco de Lucía for his passionate and innovative artistry. I also greatly admire Luciano Pavarotti, whose powerful voice and emotional expression have inspired me not only as a musician but also as a singer. For me, the greatest song of all time is “Nessun dorma,” a masterpiece that combines technical mastery with deep emotion, and which has moved audiences around the world.
We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. I typically perform solo sets lasting between 45 minutes to 1 hour. For larger events or orchestral concerts, performance times can be adjusted accordingly. I am happy to play a bit longer or shorter depending on the event and audience.
Yes, I am very happy to perform outdoors. Ideally, I request a shaded area, a flat and stable surface for my equipment, and access to a nearby power supply
I am flexible with the repertoire. Clients can select songs from my repertoire, or I can curate the program myself. If requested, I can learn up to 5 specific pieces before the event to accommodate client preferences
Previous clients have described my performances as passionate, engaging, and elegant, with a unique blend of classical guitar, Turkish music influences, and world music elements that captivate and move audiences
I perform a diverse repertoire ranging from classical guitar pieces to flamenco and Latin jazz fusion, including original compositions that blend Turkish music influences.
I perform both solo and with my Turkish-Flamenco-Latin jazz band. For introductory events, solo performances are often preferred for ease and intimacy.
Yes, I can learn specific pieces upon request, provided they are communicated at least two weeks in advance to allow sufficient preparation time.
Yes, besides being a guitarist and composer, I am also a singer and incorporate vocals into some performances.
