Neha Batra is a renowned singer based of in Edmonton and well know in the South Asian community in Edmonton and in Canada. She was born and raised in Kuwait and did her higher education in the US. She is a Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering and a Masters in Health Management. She is trained vocalist, a theater artist and have acted in many Indian series and movies.
Singing is a passion for her and she has been singing since she was a kid. Her first major stage appearance was during her college Freshers event that catapulted her talent as a performer and a singer. To foster her talent, after her education she moved to Mumbai and got trained in Hindustani Classical Vocal lessons from Padma Wadekar ji at the renowned Suresh Wadekar Ajivasan Music School. She also trained with Yaseen Darbar ji (brother of Ismail Darbar ji from Darbar gharana).
She then performed on various national television channels in India and was one of the top 12 on the reality signing show Bharat Ki Shaan in 2012. She debuted as a playback singer in Bollywood in the movie Zindagi 50-50 in 2013. While pursuing her dreams at being a singer, she also did theatre & performed as the female lead for multiple live theatre shows in Mumbai. She also performed cameo roles in multiple TV series such as Bade Ache Lagte Hain, Pavitra Rishta, Sasural Simar Ka to name a few.
After she moved to Canada she continued her passion in the singing industry. It was in Canada that she gained exposure to the Punjabi music industry and started picking up the language & singing in Punjabi. With the love & encouragement that she received amongst her Punjabi audiences, she released her 1st Punjabi single titled Sajjna in 2016. She have since released quite a few Punjabi projects with varying moods including romantic, sad, beat etc. She has also recently released quite a few Hindi & Punjabi mashups and cover songs. She have many projects in the pipeline that will release over the next few months.
Currently she does live performances in Hindi & Punjabi at various private & public events across North America and Asia. She has performed internationally in cities such as Kuwait, Mumbai, New Delhi, Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Surrey, Vancouver, Victoria, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco & Atlanta.
