Papillon Vintage Swing Band was founded in 2017 from the passion and artistic vision of six professional musicians who decided to bring to life a dynamic, ultra-retro swing ensemble based in the heart of Tuscany. United by their love for the golden age of Italian music, they set out to recreate the unmistakable charm of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, offering audiences an authentic yet refreshing musical experience. Their repertoire features the most iconic Italian songs of that era, completely rearranged and reinterpreted in a lively swing style, with original arrangements that make every performance truly one of a kind.
This is entertainment in its purest and most classic form. With their impeccable vintage aesthetic — from elegant attire to nostalgic stage design — and their irresistible swing rhythms, the band creates an atmosphere filled with joy, rhythm, and timeless elegance. Each performance is a captivating journey into the past, enchanting audiences of all ages and making every event unforgettable, from private parties to public festivals and exclusive receptions.
Whether in their compact or full-band version, audiences can enjoy a sparkling selection of timeless hits — from Duo Fasano to Natalino Otto, through Quartetto Cetra and Trio Lescano, all the way to Fred Buscaglione, Renato Carosone, and many other unforgettable authors, singers, and crooners of that golden musical era. Their music revives the spirit of vintage Italy, blending sophistication, humor, and swing energy into a show that’s impossible to resist.
Their show can be performed in two different audio setups, allowing the band to adapt perfectly to the needs of any event:
Semi-Acoustic Version – a light, intimate setup in which most instruments are not amplified. This version is ideal for smaller venues, private events, or cozy indoor spaces where a warm and natural sound is preferred.
Amplified Version – a more powerful setup using their 2,000-watt professional sound system, perfect for larger venues, outdoor events, or stages that require greater sound projection and energy.
In both configurations, the minimum space required for the band setup is 6 x 3 meters, ensuring proper positioning of instruments and optimal performance quality.
the band requires access to a private room or dressing area where members can change outfits, store personal belongings, and prepare comfortably before and after the performance. This space helps maintain the professionalism and efficiency of the show’s preparation.
The band provides its own audio system, but does not include a lighting system. If stage lighting is needed, it can be arranged and rented upon request, ensuring the best possible atmosphere for each event.
Furthermore, the band can also provide a DJ service to continue the entertainment after the live performance, or, if preferred, can play a curated playlist via Spotify through their sound system — keeping the music going seamlessly throughout the evening.
Over the years, the band has performed in various parts of the world, taking its distinctive vintage style to prestigious events and international stages. They have played for the Annual Gala of the Chamber of Commerce in Prague, at “Passione Italia” Festival in Madrid, at the Misano Circuit during a Formula E race, and in Venice for the Formula E1 Series Boat competition. They have also taken part in L’Eroica, the most famous vintage cycling event in Italy and beyond, bringing their unmistakable swing sound to audiences from all over the world.
Papillon Vintage Swing Band is perfectly suited for all kinds of events — from elegant private parties and weddings to festivals, corporate gatherings, and public celebrations. With their lively energy, refined vintage style, and engaging stage presence, they can adapt to any occasion, creating the ideal atmosphere for each setting.
The band also presents a theatrical and musical show titled “Vecchia Italia”, a captivating performance that blends music, storytelling, and vintage charm to celebrate the golden age of Italian song and culture.

The setup time for the band may vary depending on the type of event and technical conditions, ranging from a minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 2 hours. The live performance itself has a maximum duration of 2 hours, ensuring a high-quality and engaging show from start to finish.
The band can also perform outdoors, provided that a few essential conditions are met to ensure the safety of the musicians and their equipment. The band cannot perform for two consecutive hours under direct sunlight, and a covered or shaded area must be provided for daytime performances. In addition, in the case of sudden rain or adverse weather, the band must have adequate shelter or protection to prevent damage to instruments and audio equipment.
