About / Biography

Rebecca is a highly accomplished harpist with a wealth of experience in many different fields. She is an internationally renowned soloist, dedicated teacher, orchestral performer and recording artist. Her already versatile and varied career has enabled her to work alongside other artists such as Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins, Lesley Garrett, Charlotte Church and Blossoms. Other notable performances include a live TV appearance on ITV’s Coronation Street as well as the 60th birthday celebrations for HRH the Prince of Wales at the Royal Opera house in Covent Garden London.

With a wealth of experience and an enormous repertoire from Bach to Beyonce, Rebecca enjoys adding live music to every occasion and even offers a range of Bollywood music for celebrations - just ask for details.

Rebecca regularly performs on her majestic full-sized classical pedal harp, her 34-string celtic folk harp and her stunning white electronic harp. All of her harps can be amplified if necessary so she will make sure the harp can be heard for your larger-scale events.

Specific musical requests are very welcome and Rebecca will do her best to arrange and tailor music specially for your occasion. All questions welcome :)

Her story:

Rebecca is from South Shields and was initially inspired to play the harp by the 1930’s black & white comedy of Harp Marx!

Classically trained, Rebecca was awarded a position at the prestigious Chetham's School of Music and continued her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Eira Lynn Jones.

A natural performer, Rebecca is also a passionate orchestral player with various ensembles and she was also the soloist in the Dubios Harp Concerto ‘Fantasia’ at The Sage in Gateshead in 2016. Rebecca is proud to be part of the Scaramouche Flute & Harp Duo and is also a member of the CLOUDS Harp Quartet who are about to release their fourth album. She also enjoys taking her harps into healthcare facilities where she gives regular recitals for charities such as Music in Hospitals and plays weekly for Lime Arts.

Rebecca’s other passion is travelling and she has sailed the high seas on Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and many other beautiful ships for numerous cruise lines in her own electric harp show ‘Have Harp, Will Travel’. She has been collecting her countries, and so far the total is over 85!

Rebecca’s most recent adventure was to Southeast Asia where she spent 9 months teaching the harp in Thailand. She was invited to perform, give private and ensemble tuition at the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre in Bangkok which is supported by the Thai Royal Family.

Available for last-second bookings! Just send a quick request and Rebecca will get right back to you.

Whatever the occasion, Rebecca will undoubtedly make your day extra special!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Just a 2m x 2m space
(And an armless dining chair where possible)

What information do you require about a venue?

Disable access for unloading - harpists need lifts (or plenty of string helpers when performing in a medieval castle)

parking is essential please

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I usually bring my Bose S1 Pro PA Speaker, its small and mighty - discreet but incredible quality sound. I only use this is the performance space is particularly large or if there are in excess of 100 listeners :)

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

No, sorry I'm unable to provide any DJ services. (Happy to recommend some DJ's though)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Notable performances include a private function for Lucy Bronze, live TV appearance on ITV’s Coronation Street, Real Housewives of Cheshire as well as the 60th birthday celebrations for HRH the Prince of Wales at the Royal Opera house in Covent Garden London.

Have also performed in 85 different countries and alongside Katherine Jenkins, Lesley Garrett, Charlotte Church and Blossoms.

What's your favourite type of event?

Every event! Keep music LIVE! 🎶

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

As soon as I could - I have been performing since I got my harp as a kid

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Harp Marx

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive between 30-60 minutes before performing to set-up and tune.
Set-times very and I'm happy to be flexible - I just need to stretch my hands out every 40mins or so.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, weather permitting

My harp is very valuable (£54,000!) so even strong sunshine can be damaging to my instrument.
I will not be able to play outdoors in the rain without a significant shelter and a solid surface (my harp will sink on grass)

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Of course! The list is just a guide.
Any specifics, just ask

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

10/10

Can you play songs that are not on your repertoire list?

If you let me know the song I will do my best to arrange it for you - I will also be completely honest if the piece will sound naff on the harp. I'm always here to offer suggestions too, so if you're stuck for ideas of tunes I will be happy to help :)

What If I want you to play for the Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast, but not the Drinks Reception?

No problem! Just let me know the timings and we can figure something out.

When do we need to decide on the music?

Ideally two weeks before.
