Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I am grateful to say that my speaking career has taken me all over world with engagements on 5 continents and have worked with some of the most dynamic and forward thinking companies around. But recently I had the privilege of speaking for the Virgin Group in London as well as events in Dubai (Citi Bank), Europe (LEGO), Brazil (Stefanini) and Miami (PharmaIntelligence).

What's your favourite type of event?

I love relaxed conferences, regardless of size. For me it is about bringing energy in an authentic and down to earth way. I love connecting with people, sharing both my highlights and lowest of low moments in an effort to get through to people.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been telling my story from a wheelchair to the summit of Mount Everest since 2009 when I became the 17th South African to successfully summit Everest. I have also authored 2 books which went bestseller in South Africa. Mind Over Mountain and Parallel Summits. I have spoken globally for some of the largest banks, financial, pharmaceutical, IT companies as well as a majority of SA's financial, insurance and medical companies.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I have drawn inspiration from worldclass speakers, hippie back packers, authors and a lot of the people I meet through my work.

A bit about Robby

After an accident left me in a wheelchair, I beat the odds and went on to rebuild his life and climb some of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest.
Each expedition taught me about resilience, courage, and purpose - lessons I've shared with audiences across the world.
My mission is simple. Inspire people to rise above setbacks and take bold steps toward their own summits. I help audiences find perspective, courage, and purpose through the mountains I’ve climbed - both literal and mental.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My keynote is usually 60 minutes and I allow for a Q&A session afterwards. I like to arrive at least one hour before my timeslot, unless requested otherwise.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am happy to speak outdoor, provided the sound equipment and screen are adequate. My fire side sessions are different and are suitable for smaller, intimate occasions and do not require technical setups.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

My keynote deliveries are always tailored to meet the clients desired outcomes and focus areas.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

My presentations have been described as "A++", "Simply outstanding" as well as "life-changing" but there is a comprehensive list of refereals and testimonials available on request.
