Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I’ve been fortunate to perform at a wide range of venues, from packed clubs and holiday parks to private events and outdoor festivals. The most memorable gigs are always those where the audience fully gets involved and sings along from start to finish.

What's your favourite type of event?

I really enjoy events where live music is central to the atmosphere, whether that’s weddings, private parties, or lively pub nights. I like being able to connect with the crowd and shape the set depending on the energy in the room.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started out doing small local gigs and open mics as a solo acoustic performer, which led to regular pub and bar bookings and then private events and functions. Over time I built a solid cover set and learned how to read different rooms and adjust the energy of the performance depending on the crowd. I now regularly perform at a mix of venues and events, focusing on creating the right atmosphere for each occasion.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I’ve been influenced by artists who focus strongly on songwriting, melody, and live performance. Richard Ashcroft, Fleetwood Mac, and David Bowie have all been big influences on me in different ways, Ashcroft for his vocal delivery and emotional weight, Fleetwood Mac for timeless songwriting and dynamics, and Bowie for creativity and how to hold an audience’s attention in a live setting.

My favourite artist would probably be Richard Ashcroft, as I really connect with his voice, lyrics, and the atmosphere he creates in his songs both recorded and live.

As for the greatest song of all time, I’d say “With or Without You” by U2. It’s timeless, emotionally powerful, and one of those songs that always connects with a wide audience in a live setting.

How do you adapt your set and performance style to suit different types of audiences and venues?”

I adapt my set and performance style by reading the room and responding to the energy of the audience and the purpose of the event. I have a core repertoire of covers that I can shape depending on the atmosphere whether that’s a more relaxed background set or a more upbeat, crowd focused performance.

For quieter or more intimate settings, I tend to focus on dynamics, storytelling, and creating a warm atmosphere. For busier venues or parties, I’ll lean into more recognisable, higher energy tracks to keep people engaged and build momentum throughout the set. I’m also used to adjusting on the night based on how the crowd responds, so the performance always feels appropriate to the moment.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My typical setup time is around 30–45 minutes depending on access and soundcheck requirements. My performance times are flexible, but I’m usually booked for 2 x 45-minute or 2 x 60-minute sets, depending on the event.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I’m happy to perform outside, provided there is suitable cover for myself and my equipment and access to a safe power supply.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a well-prepared set repertoire that I typically perform from to maintain consistency and flow throughout the event. However, I’m also happy to accommodate reasonable client requests in advance where appropriate, as long as they fit the style and atmosphere of the performance.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients often describe my performances as professional and easy to work with, with a strong ability to create the right atmosphere for the event. I’m frequently told I read the room well and choose songs that suit the crowd.
