Sinfonietta Ensemble is a distributed project for the promotion of Salon music from the late 19th century. The project deals with recovering, collecting and restoring original scores of the most played pieces at the turn of the 20th century.
Salon music was organized in that era with an adaptation technique that allowed heterogeneous groups to use the same scores, through a system of redundant guides that constituted a true innovation of the time. The result is the possibility of building the ensemble according to the dimensions required by the occasion, keeping the original sounds of the pieces intact and integrating the use of the piano and harmonium in the orchestra, which balance the differences between the soloists and the obviously missing orchestral mass.
The result is a pleasant and very varied concert, which combines the evocative power of the solo instruments and the compactness of the orchestral sound.
The repertoire is essentially composed of orchestral music and musical entertainment with salon music, including all the production of the Strauss family, fantasies on popular themes, songs of the last century, solo pieces and famous themes.
A more recent part of the repertoire also includes film music and light music pieces, like pop, movie soundtracks, tango and jazz, to meet the taste of a wider audience.
Instrumentation
The structure of the Sinfonietta is based on three fundamental elements, the violin, the piano and the cello. When the piano is not present, this can also be replaced by one of our digital pianos.
Starting from this structure, a certain number of possibilities open up: if the number of instruments is less than seven, versatile instruments such as oboe and clarinet, flute, a second violin and double bass are inserted. For this purpose, there are specific additional parts, called obligato, which perform all the parts of a certain group, such as violin and viola for example. A horn can then be added, or better yet two in larger formations.
The complete formation is usually composed of about twenty elements: a string quintet, a woodwind quintet, a brass quartet, one or two percussion instruments, piano and harmonium, plus specific instruments according to the repertoire.
It is therefore possible to assemble a specific show based on the resources and spaces available, the size of the event and the needs, obtaining the maximum scenic result in an efficient and satisfying way.
A small PA system is used by the ensemble to equalize the sounds within the ensemble in order to compensate for any differences in the acoustics of the concert venue.
The product is supplied without amplification, which may have to be calculated separately.
