Dara (PhD in Indian classical music) is a composer, music educator and performer (sitar, guitar) based in Cork, Ireland. He completed his PhD at UCC School of Music where he lectures in Indian classical music and improvisation. He also works as a music therapist in the area of autism. He studied sitar in India over many years under his mentor, Sougata Roy Chowdhury and also with Pandit Kushal Das. He plays Indian classical music and contemporary music on the sitar.
His eclectic experience as a composer and performer includes ‘global fusion’, Indian classical music, jazz, rock, experimental sound, film, and music for contemporary dance. He is also a member of a few ensembles: Rasa Nua, blending Indian, Klezmer and jazz music through original compositions; and Nastaran, classical music of India and Afghanistan.

I can do special requests and there is a range of options. Generally I’m happy to play it by ear, feeling the mood and what music is best to enhance the atmosphere
