About / Biography

Some events have music. The best ones have the right music — the kind that lifts the room without ever taking it over. That's what we do.

We are a team of professional musicians specialising in jazz, swing, soul and blues for cocktails, weddings, corporate events and private celebrations. Years of playing in demanding settings — weddings where every detail matters, hotels that protect their image, high-end corporate events — taught us that how you sound and how you look on stage matter equally.

Our line-ups — vocal or instrumental, each suited to a different kind of event:

Duo (voice & guitar) — intimate and warm, for smaller cocktails and private dinners. – Trio (vocal or instrumental) — compact, versatile, fits any room. – Quartet (vocal, or instrumental with saxophone) — more body and depth. – Quintet (full line-up) — our most enveloping sound, for large events and stages. – Tailored line-up — custom formations through our network of leading players. If you can describe it, we can create it.

No format is the "standard" choice — the right one depends on your guests, your space and the atmosphere you want.

What sets us apart: we design a musical experience rather than just turn up and play; we work only with professional jazz, swing, soul and blues musicians; and we manage everything through a single point of contact — clear communication, punctuality, no surprises. We tune the volume to each phase of the event, curate the repertoire to its style, and bring a polished stage presence.

Everything's ready to book. We bring our own professional sound system — compact, discreet and tuned for an elegant volume — so for most events there's nothing for you to arrange. For larger venues we handle premium sound hire too, and if your venue or DJ already has a system, we adapt to it.

Based in Spain, available nationwide. Tell us your date, venue and what you have in mind, and we'll come back with the right line-up and a clear proposal.

That moment at the end of the night when someone says "everything was perfect and I don't quite know why" — that's Soul Day.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For most events we need a performance area of around 3 x 2 metres for a duo or trio, and 5 x 3 metres for a quartet or quintet. We require one standard power socket nearby (a second for larger line-ups) and, for outdoor events, access to power. Parking close to the venue for one vehicle is appreciated for load-in. We adapt to the space available — if you're unsure, just tell us about your venue and we'll confirm what's needed.

What information do you require about a venue?

To prepare properly, we'd like to know: how to find the venue and the best access point to load in our equipment; whether the performance is indoors or outdoors; and the location of the nearest power supply. We'd also appreciate the name of the venue contact, in case we need to coordinate technical details directly. With this we make sure everything runs smoothly on the day, with nothing left to chance.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes — we can provide a professional sound system: compact, discreet and tuned for an elegant volume, ideal for cocktails and receptions. For larger venues we can arrange premium sound hire, and if your venue or DJ already has a system in place, we're happy to work with that instead. We don't provide lighting, but it's easily arranged separately and we can coordinate with your lighting supplier if needed.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

If you'd like background music before, between or after our sets, we can arrange a curated playlist to keep the atmosphere flowing — in the same jazz, swing and soul spirit as our live performance, or tailored to your taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One that stays with us was a wedding reception at a countryside estate — the cocktail hour unfolded on a terrace at golden hour, and the music simply became part of the evening. Nothing flashy; it just felt right. Honestly, the best events are rarely about the grandest venue — they're the ones where everything quietly comes together and the music fits the moment perfectly.

What's your favourite type of event?

We love elegant events where atmosphere matters — wedding cocktails and receptions especially. That relaxed hour after the ceremony, with a drink in hand and live jazz in the background, is where we're at our best. We're just as at home at corporate events, hotel receptions and private celebrations — anywhere the goal is a refined mood rather than a loud party.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We're all professional musicians with well over a decade of experience each — between us, that spans jazz clubs, festivals, weddings, corporate events and teaching. Soul Day grew naturally out of that shared background: a group of players who knew the repertoire inside out and wanted to bring a more considered, carefully designed kind of live music to elegant events. That experience is what lets us read a room and shape the music around it, rather than simply playing a set.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Our sound draws on the classics of jazz, swing and soul — names like Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder — alongside the more contemporary artists we reinterpret in that same timeless spirit.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We usually arrive about two hours before the performance to set up and soundcheck without any rush. Our most popular option for cocktails is 90 minutes, and we also offer 60- or 120-minute performances, with short breaks as needed. We're happy to adapt the timing and structure of the sets to suit the flow of your event.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we're happy to perform outdoors. We just ask for cover from direct sun or rain over the performance area, a flat level surface, and access to a power supply nearby. With those in place, we're well suited to gardens, terraces, rooftops and open-air receptions.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We perform a curated repertoire of jazz, swing, soul and bossa nova, chosen to suit elegant events. Beyond that, we're happy to adapt to what you have in mind — you're welcome to pick favourites from our repertoire, or let us shape the set for the mood of your event. We can also learn a special song that matters to you, more extensive personalisation and specific arrangements.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients tend to describe us as elegant, professional and easy to work with — and they often mention how naturally the music fit the moment.
