Western Bound Club is an acoustic duo specialising in the warm, elegant sound of vintage American swing — the music of 1930s and 40s jazz lounges, brought to life on fingerstyle guitar, double bass and vocals. It's sophisticated, atmospheric live music made to be heard and appreciated, with all the charm of a bygone era and none of the volume of a party band.
We're a natural fit for the more refined moments of an event: the wedding ceremony, the drinks reception, the aperitif, an elegant cocktail hour. We also play private parties, corporate receptions and launches — any occasion that calls for timeless class rather than a dancefloor. (If you're after a high-energy band to fill the dancefloor, that isn't us; but for elegance and atmosphere, few do it better.)
Our core lineup is fingerstyle guitar/vocals and double bass, performed fully acoustic or with minimal amplification. We can scale up to a trio or quartet for larger spaces or a fuller sound, we bring our own equipment, and repertoire and arrangements can be tailored to your event.
Musically, we draw on classic swing, traditional jazz, blues and western swing — instrumental standards from the golden age of American music, with fingerpicking in the tradition of Chet Atkins, alongside warm vocal numbers.
The duo brings genuine pedigree. Our guitarist and vocalist has over 25 years in American roots music and has shared the stage with the likes of Gene Taylor, Mike Sanchez and Les Greene. Our double bassist is a conservatoire-trained jazz musician (Valencia and Codarts Rotterdam), a prize-winner at Spain's Getxo Jazz Festival and a selected artist for Madrid's Conde Duque jazz residency.
Based in Valencia, Spain, and happy to travel — an ideal choice for destination weddings on the Valencia and Alicante coast, or anywhere a little vintage elegance is called for.

As an acoustic duo we bring our own equipment and have minimal requirements: a performance area of at least 3m x 2m (more for a trio or quartet), 1 standard power socket nearby, and 1 parking space near the load-in point, as we travel with a double bass. For outdoor performances, we only ask for shade and cover from direct sun and rain to protect the acoustic instruments.
It helps to know how to find the venue and where we can load in, ideally close to where we'll be playing, as we travel with a double bass. We'd also like to know whether we'll be indoors or outdoors and where exactly we'll be performing (for example, the ceremony spot and the drinks reception area), plus whether there's any sound limiter or restriction in place. For outdoor settings, it's useful to confirm there's shade and cover from sun or rain.
For sound, we can bring our own PA system when amplification is needed, scaled for ceremonies, drinks receptions and cocktail events. We don't provide lighting.
We can provide a Spotify playlist to cover the moments before, after and between our sets — either curated by us to match the atmosphere or based on your own selection. It's an option we're glad to arrange if it suits your event.
As an acoustic duo with our own equipment, our setup is quick and unobtrusive — we usually need around 30–40 minutes to set up and sound check, and we're happy to arrive earlier to fit around your schedule.
We typically perform continuously for one to one-and-a-half hours, which works beautifully for a drinks reception or cocktail hour. We're equally happy to split this into shorter sets with breaks, or to shape the music around the flow of your event — for example, accompanying the ceremony and then playing through the reception. Just let us know what suits your day and we'll adapt.
Yes — we love playing outdoors, and the vintage, acoustic feel of what we do suits an outdoor ceremony or drinks reception perfectly. We just ask for a flat, level surface for the double bass, shade and cover from direct sun or rain to protect the instruments, and a power point nearby if we're using light amplification.
Our repertoire is never fixed — we tailor it to each event. Clients are welcome to choose pieces from our repertoire, let us read the room and select the music ourselves, or a mix of both. We're also up to learn a few special requests ahead of the event such as a particular piece for the ceremony entrance or the signing, arranged in our own acoustic style.
Our performances are most often described as elegant, warm and atmospheric — live music that people actually stop and listen to, rather than background noise. Rather than a high-energy party set, we bring a touch of timeless sophistication and vintage charm that sets the tone for a ceremony or drinks reception.
