About / Biography

I am a solo saxophonist who can provide background music as well as 'front & centre' performances. I offer background music for drinks receptions and meet & greet areas at corporate or festive functions. I also perform at weddings to (musically) announce the arrival of the bride, perform songs during the signing of the register etc. I enjoy performing Blues, Jazz, Soul Gospel, and a little Blues Rock.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I have performed at a Celebration of the Windrush Generation function in front of 200 appreciative guests.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love all events where guests enjoy the music that I play.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I had been playing for several years for fun, when someone contacted celebration. I was a little daunted , but the adrenaline rush was amazing and I was hooked.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

When I first heard the soundtrack to the 1966 film Alfie, (played by Sonny Rollins), I was hooked on the sound of the saxophone and felt that I must learn to play. I also love Muddy Waters, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, BB King and King Curtis, There are so many others

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I can do 3 x 30 minute sets, but could do 2 x 45 minutes sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I can perform outdoors as long as there is shelter on windy (and rainy) days as my mic is quite sensitive. I would require access to a power supply. A flat surface would be very welcome too.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I generally have my own set list, but if the client specifically requests a particular song, I would be more than happy to accommodate as long as I am given enough time to learn it.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

My clients generally describe my performances as "Fantastic," "Absolutely amazing." One client said "You blew us away".

Is there a raised stage or ground level 'performance area'

Raised stages are easier for all of my equipment, particularly if I bring more than one saxophone.
