Johnny is simply incredible! I am an elementary school music teacher who came to him with a wild proposal to accompany my choir of 96 children on a Scottish folk song, The Skye Boat song.

He met with my assistant directors and I to come up with a plan of how to coordinate the flow of the song and balance the vocals and the pipes. He is an amazing collaborator and had a lot of great ideas of how to make it come together.

He came to one of our rehearsals and was so gracious and so kind with the students. They absolutely loved interacting with him!

Our whole community was enchanted with him when he played for the concert and opened for us and then performed the number we had worked on together. He is a very eloquent and engaging speaker and a master at his instrument! He’s one of those people who is just a joy to work with and we look forward to collaborating with him again on future musical projects!

Jonny was quick to be in communication after getting the word of our need after my Fathers passing. He was very attentive, respectful and gave me a list of several songs he would be willing to play after learning what my Dad would like. As the family arrived to the gravesite you could hear the bagpipes which gave a comforting effect, and aided in the completion and overall experience putting my Dad to rest. Jonny is an excellent bagpiper and would highly recommend him!

Highland Games for our family reunion!!!
Oh my goodness!! Johnny came and played the bagpipes for the opening ceremonies of our huge family Highland Games reunion!! He was AMAZING!! His music was a big hit and a very special highlight!! All of my family loved his music and how he personally played a medley in honor of each family. He was very professional and prompt and so kind to stick around for tons of family group photos!!! Johnny played at the graveside for my mom’s funeral, and he did an absolutely wonderful job. As soon as I requested a quote I receive a message and a phone call. He provided a lot of helpful information up front and was very professional. He was kind and caring throughout the process, and was always quick to respond.

The performance was amazing! We could tell he was refined in his skills and everyone enjoyed the music and the emotion he brought to it. We even asked him to play a few more songs while our family did a small activity and he was more than willing to do it. So wonderful!

We have used John for two years now after my brother passed. He is obviously talented but more importantly in times of grief… He is so easy to work with, responsive and kind. He doesn’t push, he’s helpful and willing to go above and beyond. He wasn’t in a hurry to leave and wanted to make sure we had a good experience. He’s just a good human with good energy. We used one other bagpiper that was a totally different feeling, so I know John is just special!

My husband surprised me with a visit from Johnny for our wedding anniversary. I was born in Scotland and we both love the sound of the bagpipes. Johnny was amazing and pulled off the surprise with ease! He plays beautifully. A very memorable evening and we will for sure have him back again as soon as we find an excuse!

Talk about a professional! Johnny Miner was a Class A professional. We had him play at my brother's graveside services. He called ahead of time to get all the details. He explained he would play off in the distance while people gathering. Then as per requested he would play Amazing Grace. He offered to explain to those gathered that he would play Amazing Grace and then fade off into the distance as is the Celtic tradition of the spirit lingering and then fading away.
The cemetery he played at was quite a ways away, so not only did he travel a long ways to get there, but he was early to the graveside services. Unfortunately one of our speakers got lost, so the service was delayed a considerable amount of time. However, Johnny continued to play in the hot sun with no complaint.
The bagpipe playing was the highlight of the send off for my brother and was no doubt the highlight of the service. I was amazed how simple and quick it was to make the arrangements to have a bagpiper play at a funeral service. Johnny was dressed beautifully and enhanced a beautiful service. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to add the beautiful sound of bagpipes to any event. Hopefully in the future we will be able to invite him back for a more joyful event such as a wedding.

Before our mother passed, her wish was to have a bagpiper play Amazing Grace. Johnny did so much more! As we arrived at the cemetery, he was playing hymns at a little distance. As the pallbearers brought the casket to the graveside, he played her favorite Amazing Grace, and following the dedication of the grave, he played Going Home. Johnny explained to me earlier about the Celtic belief that the soul would stay with the body until after the service, the soul would be led away by the bagpiper to Go home. It was all beautiful and respectful abd would have made my mother very happy. The family was very pleased. My husband (who has no Scottish Ancestors) said afterward that he would like a bagpiper for his burial! Thank you so much for helping to make a difficult day an uplifting experience.

Johnny played bagpipes for my dads funeral service. He was so professional and compassionate. This gentleman is the poster child for professionalism. He is always early to his events he knows the songs to be played and they sound absolutely flawless. His tuning is pitch perfect and is probably one of the best pipers I have heard. The service was running late because we were waiting for my nephew driving in from MT and so Johnny had to leave twice to go to a nearby park to retune his pipes.

The he played “Amazing Grace” at the headstone! Then after some family members spoke, he played a request for my dads birthday of “Danny Boy” and I know my mom loved Hallelujah but it wasn’t on his list and so I asked him if he could try it.
It was short notice only a few days and Johnny nailed it!!
It was a very special tribute and send off to our mom & dad and Johnny did a beautiful job and I won’t hesitate to recommend him for any family funeral!!

Mr. Minor was extremely professional throughout the whole process. He was at the cemetery for my mothers graveside service well before we arrived and played beautifully. He has a large repertoire of songs and is willing to learn songs if he doesn’t know them. Not at all pushy about money and the price was extremely fair. I of course don’t want to have to call him for funeral services anytime soon, but the next time it comes up I will definitely call him first.

Johnny made the reunion with my missionary parents returning from Scotland one for the ages. An already emotional experience was all the sweeter with the sound of Scotland the Brave echoing through the airport as they were swarmed by a few dozen grandkids followed by warm embraces from my siblings and me. I know of no better way to pay tribute to someone than with the pipes. Johnny is as fine a piper and as fine a gentleman as one could hope for. If I could give 10 stars I would. I had recently told my fiancé randomly weeks ago that i loved bagpipes. Leaving this review the day after our wedding because she surprised me with the most amazing performance I’ve ever heard from Johnny Miner. Johnny supposedly had 1 week to learn a song that my wife requested and he absolutely stunned everyone attending the reception. Chills and tears in my eyes. Unbelievable.

John is the best bagpipe player ever! He came to my granddaughter’s elementary school in his kilt with his bagpipe and totally entertained them as well as educated them on the basics of the bagpipes. Johnny called me within minutes of posting a request for a bagpiper. We were coming from out of state for a funeral having little communication with the family and sparse knowledge of how the day would go. He was very communicative, friendly, and accommodating He was professional, arrived well in advance, played wonderfully, and conducted his portion of the ceremony as if there had been rehearsals, although the service was very much off the cuff. He was flexible and could adapt at the last minute, working alongside the honor guard to help create a beautiful and honoring ceremony. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone and would call him again.

Johnny did a fantastic job at my father’s funeral. He was very easy to work with and the songs played were perfect to show the respect and reverence that my dad deserved. This was by far THE COOLEST funeral I’ve ever been to.

I wish I could give John 10 stars! Planning a funeral is hard and stressful, but working with John was not. He responded quickly and gave great suggestions for how he could make the service even more meaningful. There was a small hiccup where I didn’t communicate correctly what the family wanted, but in the moment he jumped in and made it happen. Johnny played at my father’s funeral and did an exceptional job. He was great to coordinate with and was respectful of how we wanted the pipes played at the service. I would highly recommend Johnny for a service.

Johnny Miner is an amazing bagpiper. He agreed on short notice to perform for the 9-11 Fallen Firefighters Memorial Motorcycle Ride. The ride started at South Valley Harley-Davidson on September 7, 2024. The Marines Motorcycle Club presented the colors and performed the flag ceremony. Johnny played two numbers for us and ended with Amazing Grace. He looked and acted the part. He is extremely professional and very talented. I am so grateful that he was willing to perform for us.
