About / Biography

My superpower is versatility. My standard is over-delivery. My goal is always the same: make the audience care.

I'm Valerie Ojeda, a professional event emcee, corporate host, and trade show presenter with more than 20 years of experience and over 1,000 live events under my belt.

Known as "The Event Chameleon," I have a knack for adapting to the audience, the occasion, and the people I'm representing. From corporate conferences, conventions, and award ceremonies to galas, fundraisers, and special events, I bring the right balance of professionalism, personality, energy, and humor.

Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working with some incredible brands, including Microsoft, Dell, HPE, 3M, Honda, Sony, Panasonic, Epson, and Acura. I've also worked at major events such as CES, Dell Technologies World, HPE Discover, AWS, SEMA, and NAB.

Whether I'm welcoming hundreds of attendees, introducing executives, moderating panels, presenting awards, interacting with the audience, or navigating those unexpected live-event moments, I'm comfortable thinking on my feet and keeping the program running smoothly.

I believe a great emcee does more than introduce speakers and announce what's next. It's about reading the room, connecting with people, bringing the right energy to each moment, and making everyone feel like they're part of the experience.

I'm also a team player through and through. I work closely with event planners, producers, and production crews, come prepared, take direction well, and understand how important it is to stay on schedule. I take my responsibilities seriously without taking myself too seriously.

Most importantly, I genuinely love what I do. My goal is to make your event a success, make your job easier, and leave your audience with a wonderful experience.

Based in Los Angeles and frequently working in Las Vegas, I'm available for corporate events, conferences, conventions, galas, and special events throughout the United States and internationally.

Song list

I'm also the lead singer of a professional cover band, with a repertoire of hundreds of songs spanning the 1960s through today's biggest hits. When appropriate, and always with my client's approval, I love incorporating music, singing, and even a little dancing into an event. It's a fun way to energize the room, bring people together, and create some unexpected, memorable moments!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

It's hard to pick just one! One of my favorites was emceeing a product launch for Dreame at the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, with over 1000 attendees. I've also had the privilege of hosting a Mayoral Gala and fundraiser, and one of my most rewarding ongoing experiences has been traveling the country as an emcee for Law Rocks, an incredible organization that brings the legal community together through live music to support local nonprofits. Very different events, but that's exactly what I love about what I do!

What's your favourite type of event?

I genuinely love the variety! Corporate conferences, galas, fundraisers, trade shows, outdoor festivals... each brings something different to the table. What I love most is connecting with people and being of service. Whether I'm helping an event planner breathe a little easier, making a speaker feel comfortable onstage, or bringing an audience together for a shared experience, that's what makes this work so rewarding to me. I love reading a room, finding those spontaneous moments of connection, and making people feel welcome and included. If I can make someone's day a little easier and a whole lot more enjoyable, I'm happy!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been involved in the entertainment and event industry for over 20 years, and what a ride it's been! My experience has taken me around the world as an on-camera host for a travel and lifestyle show, onto stages as a professional singer, and in front of the camera as an actress.

I've also worked behind the scenes in event production and management, including sporting events, which gave me a real appreciation for everything it takes to pull off a successful event.

Along the way, I've worked in sales, marketing, corporate presenting, and live entertainment. Each experience has taught me something different about communicating, connecting with people, and keeping an audience engaged.

Emceeing and Presenting became a natural extension of all those experiences. It brings together so many things I love: performing, connecting with people, thinking on my feet, and being part of a team that creates something special. And after more than 1,000 events, I still love every minute of it!

What makes you different from others offering something similar?

The event doesn't have to fit me. I fit the event! That's why I call myself The Event Chameleon.

What sets me apart is that I look at every event from several different angles. My background in sales and marketing helps me understand the client's goals and how to communicate their message effectively. My producing experience gives me an appreciation for everything happening behind the scenes, from logistics and timing to working with the production team. And as a performer, I know how to read a room, engage an audience, and think on my feet.

I also love incorporating music, audience interaction, and even live singing when appropriate. Sometimes a little unexpected fun can create the most memorable moments!

Above all, I genuinely love being of service. I come prepared, take direction well, and approach every event as part of the team, without ego. My goal is to make the client's job easier, help everyone look great, and give the audience an experience they'll remember.

How involved are you in the planning process before an event?

As involved as you need me to be! I love collaborating with event planners and production teams ahead of time to understand the goals, audience, schedule, and overall vision.

I'm happy to participate in planning calls, review scripts and run-of-show documents, help develop introductions and transitions, and offer ideas for audience engagement when appropriate.

I believe preparation makes all the difference, but I also know that even the best-planned events can throw a curveball. That's where experience, flexibility, and a sense of humor come in handy!

Can you help create audience engagement opportunities throughout the event?

Absolutely! One of my favorite things to do is find ways to make the audience part of the experience rather than simply spectators.

Depending on the occasion, that might include lighthearted audience interaction, games, fun transitions, music, or even a little live singing!

I always consider the audience, the client's goals, and the tone of the event. Sometimes a quick, unexpected moment is all it takes to bring the room together, refresh everyone's energy, and make an event more memorable.

What happens if something goes wrong or the event runs behind schedule?

Well, that's live events for you! After more than 1,000 events, I've learned that flexibility is just as important as preparation.

Whether a speaker runs long, there's a technical hiccup, or the schedule suddenly changes, I stay calm, communicate with the production team, and adjust as needed.

Sometimes that means shortening an introduction, filling an unexpected gap, or keeping the audience engaged while something is being sorted out behind the scenes.

My goal is to help keep everything moving smoothly without making the audience aware that anything unexpected happened.

Can you create customized opening segments, audience engagement moments, or mini-keynotes for our event?

Absolutely! One of my favorite things is creating something specifically for an event and its audience.

Whether you need a memorable show opening, a fun way to welcome everyone back after lunch, an interactive moment to reenergize the room, or a customized 10-minute mini-keynote, I'd love to help!

I can incorporate storytelling, humor, audience participation, music, and even live singing when appropriate. It's all about finding the right combination for your audience and the message you want to deliver.

I work with clients to understand their goals, event theme, and the experience they want to create. From there, we can develop something that's entertaining, relevant, and feels like a natural part of the program.

Sometimes those little unexpected moments become the ones people remember most!

Are you comfortable working from a script or improvising on the spot?

Absolutely! I'm equally comfortable delivering a fully scripted program, working from talking points, or going completely off the cuff.

I have extensive experience with teleprompters, ear prompters, and live production cues, but I also love the spontaneity of live events! Whether it's an unexpected audience interaction, a last-minute schedule change, or a moment that calls for a little humor, I'm comfortable thinking on my feet while keeping the event on track.

I believe the best emcees know when to stick to the script, when to improvise, and, most importantly, when to let the moment speak for itself.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My hosting time is flexible and tailored to the event, whether it's a short awards presentation, a few hours of emceeing, or a multi-day corporate conference.

Depending on the production schedule and event requirements, I'm happy to make myself available the day before for rehearsals, technical run-throughs, and production meetings. On event day, I can arrive as early as needed to ensure everything is in place and we're ready to go!

I don't require extensive personal setup, but I do ask that a professional PA system and microphone be provided by the client or venue.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! I've emceed outdoor festivals, sporting events, fundraisers, and community celebrations, and I love the energy of an outdoor audience.
For outdoor events, I ask that a professional PA system and microphone be provided, along with a safe, level performance area and appropriate protection from direct sun or inclement weather... if possible:-)

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients often describe me as energetic, engaging, professional, personable, incredibly easy to work with and FUN!! I frequently hear that they appreciate my preparation, adaptability, positive attitude, and ability to connect naturally with an audience.

I also receive wonderful feedback about being able to think on my feet, keep things moving smoothly, and bring just the right amount of humor and personality to an event.

One of my favorite compliments is when a client tells me I made their job easier. And hearing that they want me back the following year? That's the icing on the cake!

Can what you offer be tailored to the event or the audience?

Absolutely! In fact, that's one of my favorite parts of the job. No two events or audiences are alike, and I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

I work with clients to understand their goals, audience, event atmosphere, and expectations. Some occasions call for a polished, sophisticated presence, while others welcome more energy, humor, and audience participation. I love finding that balance!

When appropriate, I can also incorporate interactive moments, music, and even live singing to add something unexpected and memorable.

Whether the event is formal, casual, educational, or celebratory, my goal is to complement the client's vision while helping everyone feel connected and engaged.
