Review Centre: Guitarists

"I hired Matthew for my 50th birthday party and am so pleased that I did - he was exactly what I was looking for! I selected him on the basis of the quality that I saw on the website, and felt that he was even better in person. Being somewhat fussy, I was apprehensive about finding someone who could meet my needs, but Matthew suggested that we had a meeting before my event and we chatted through my ideas and preferences - as well as the things that I did not want! I came away feeling that he understood me and that we had connected, which was incredibly reassuring, and I was not let down on the night. Matthew is an incredibly talented singer and guitarist - recreating songs in a way that not only reflects the original, but often putting his own twist onto them in a way that keeps them fresh and interesting. His use of the loop pedal was particularly impressive! It was of note that so many of my guests commented on how good he was - they had a great time and really got into the swing of things as he gradually turned up the tempo and got everyone dancing. In doing so, he took requests, interacted with the crowd, showed a good sense of humour and came across as a fun, friendly and approachable guy. He played a wide range of songs, all of which reflected our discussion beforehand, with a great balance between those you might expect at a party and some 'surprises' that may be less common but worked equally well - if not better! I would definitely hire Matthew again, and would recommend him to pretty much anyone: he has a list of nearly 500 songs to choose from, and has a strict policy of not having a 'usual' setlist - instead preferring to engage in a discussion of what you'd like, so would be able to cater for all tastes - even mine! "BEST I COULD HAVE HOPED FOR! Professional, talented, responsive genuine. I sent a very last minute request (2 days before our ceremony) since we forgot to choose a song for our officiant as he walked down the aisle and Stephan came the rescue and learned Waiting in Vain (officiant's favorite) in literally less than a day. AND he did it out of the goodness of his heart. You can tell Stephan is someone who wants his clients to have the day as they imagined and will go OUT OF HIS WAY to make it happen. His music is beautiful and set the perfect mood for our ceremony. I love contemporary songs played acoustically and his repertoire is very extensive. I regret forgetting to take a picture to capture this! To all those who are smart enough to have Stephan play at your wedding or event, be smarter than me - remember to take a photo!!"

"Chris performed for over an hour taking requests from patients. We had a peaky blinders theme and Chris was billed as the entertainment. And he did entertain. All of the patients commented on how brilliant his voice was and staff also said he was fantastic at singing, performing and I cannot recommend him enough for a social event. He did a wide range of songs and even though the room was decorated, it was CHRIS who made the night what it was. I will be booking Chris again for future events. I will also recommend booking Chris for private events and telling my friends. I honestly cannot praise him enough for what he did for our patients."

Also, thanks very much for the songs you improvised for us towards the end of a great evening. Oak & Brass are very talented singers/guitarists, and able to adapt to so many different styles of song, giving some great entertainment. "Cecilia was extremely kind and helpful from the very first contact. She very kindly helped me put together the songs, and then we agreed on a location. Cecilia played for us next to the Colosseum in Rome, which was the most beautiful surprise for my fiancée. When we were done, my sweetheart said; the live music was so touching. I am very grateful to you, it was wonderful. Thank you!"
