Review Centre: Classical Singers

"Another real (and unexpected) highlight of the White Nights festival was ‘Apotheosis’ at 162 North Street, billed as a ‘performance of voice’ this was undersold as what we actually saw was an explosion of incredibly talented people, projected from a balcony on a stunning dressed and lit building. It promised much, as do a lot of these free festivals shows, but this one delivered. Each hour, three different singers appeared, one after another on the balcony to serenade us with a diverse selection of music, showcasing not just their voices, but also cultural background. I was so impressed with the first show that I went back for two of the others six. Opening the first performance was a series of tolling bells, very low key and then a women, dressed in black with swept up hair and a smile appeared on the balcony, the music struck up and her voice thrilled and echoed off the surrounding buildings as the crowd was pulled in. It was a stunning opening and the singer, Sam Chara received a huge round of applause from the hefty crowd. It’s not easy to both keep and please a crowd at a free festival event, especially with such thick competition only steps away, but this vibrant , young singer charmed and thrilled the crowd with her beautiful, sad and bel-canto rendition of ‘Un bel di’ from Madam Butterfly, I went back for the 10pm show, the crowds knew what to expect by this point, extra stewards had to be drawn in contain the buzzing expectant crowd and once again Sam Chara opening the show with a breathtaking ‘Una voce poco fa’ by Rossini, as the huge red satin banners undulated in the wind under their stark lights, New Road was once again transformed by this young ladies voice into a living outdoor opera set, it was superb performance, technically brilliant and with a verve and passion that was confidently on show. Ten out of ten for this part of the white nights festival,"

"Livi has an outstanding voice. She sang at our Christmas Carol Memorial Service in our local church and her voice was amazing. We had so many comments from the congregation, she is truly outstanding and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend for any occasion "

"We’ll definitely be back. The musicians were top-class professionals, and the experience was interactive: as well as the traditional flamenco show, we booked the introductory workshop where they taught us how to clap and do some simple steps – it was great fun. It was a real pleasure to have the artists up close and to enjoy their warmth and friendliness. My wife certainly had a fantastic start to her 60th birthday."

She responded quickly to our messages, was very communicative, helpful, and what's most important, her performance was top notch. We really enjoyed our collaboration. She works beautifully with everyone and always goes above and beyond to ensure that every detail is taken care of. "Antonella is amazing! She performed at our cathedral ceremony and set the perfect ambience for the wedding. She is really talented and we were so happy with her! Our guests also complimented Antonella and said how amazing she is. She was a pleasure to deal with whilst planning the wedding and was very responsive and helpful. "Kirsty sang at our wedding ceremony on the 5th August this year (2018) @ St. Peter’s chapel. From the minute we met,Kirsty completely put my mind at ease nothing was an issue, she even came to the church rehearsal. As soon as Kirsty sang the first hymn at our wedding i felt super relaxed and thankful. "We engaged Soprano, String Trio, and Organist for the Church Ceremony and were pleased with both the organization of the Music and the many choices of repertoire to be performed. The artists' performances were greatly appreciated by the guests. The appearance and education of the musicians also made our guests especially happy. "

"Yuri came to sing at my husband's 50th birthday party. It was a surprise not only for my husband but for everyone at the party. I couldn't believe a real tenor was singing in our garden, it was such a privilege to hear someone with such talent at such close proximity. We were enchanted for the whole duration, even some of the smaller children sat down to listen! My husband said it was the best and least expected present ever, so we are all super happy. We not only enjoyed the amazing voice but also the ability to get into the characters of the arias, from the sad 'e lucevan le stelle to the funny 'la donna e' mobile'. And the amazing version of 'nessun dorma' at the end, we didn't want it to end! Thank you so much Yuri, we thoroughly enjoyed every single moment and I hope we have the chance to hear your beautiful voice again soon."
