"Denis Cook is the perfect pub and bar-room entertainer: genial, charming and chatty with a charismatic personality, so it's not surprising that the sumptuous Haven Wine Bar & Restaurant in Whetstone booked Denis for several gigs, since he's the ideal 'mine host' for this exclusive venue, encouraging the guests to join in and have a fun time. With many strings to his bow, in addition to singing Denis plays guitar, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica and kazoo, but his greatest claim to fame is that he taught his nephew Norman Cook, alias Fatboy Slim, to DJ! (Denis has been 'spinning discs' since 1969 and the young Norman was soon hooked on music too!) Though perhaps not the greatest instrumentalist to perform on stage, Denis more than makes up for this with his highly tuneful singing voice, careful selection of material and infectious personality. Skill and experience gained through years of DJing shines through in Denis's easy command of banter between numbers, putting many other pub acts to shame, and his sheer dedication to entertaining others certainly evidenced in this three-hour gig undertaken with hardly a break. Starting with the Eagles' country ditty "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and a stripped-down version of the Foundations' "Baby Now That I've Found You" guests knew they were in for something special, loving the laid-back, peaceful easy listening style and the fact that the music was at a very reasonable volume: no blasting speakers here! Then, after just three songs, self-accompanied by guitar, Denis popped out his mandolin for a very enjoyable rendition of the Kinks' "Tired Of Waiting For You" and Steve Earle's Irish classic "Galway Girl" before switching to the ukulele for a charming interpretation of McFly's wistful "Love Is Easy" but, in addition, you'll find plenty of variety in Denis's act, ranging from party numbers like the Mavericks' "Dance The Night Away" and Roxy Music's "Let's Stick Together" to country classics such as Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy" and John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" to up-to-date material like George Ezra's catchy "Budapest" as well as some good old rock 'n roll. And - how many performers would be brave enough to attempt Rupert Holmes' excellent "Escape" (The Pina Colada Song); the late Ronnie Lane's rocking "Ooh La La" or Billy Ray Cyrus' witty comedy number "Where Am I Gonna Live?!" Mr Cook will be returning to the Haven soon and my advice is that you might want to reserve a table, since the place is likely to be well be packed in anticipation of this great entertainer. "⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely amazing guitarist! David was incredible from start to finish. All the timings were perfect, and he absolutely nailed every song — even the ones that were a bit out there for classical guitar. He sounded amazing throughout the ceremony and drinks, and really added something special to the day. He arrived on time, checked in briefly about where he needed to be and when, and that was all he needed — a true professional and very talented musician. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough!"

His gentle, lyrical guitar style provided a soothing counterpoint to the bustling marketplace below Farmgate’s mezzanine setting. With his humorous and easy manner, Nick’s musical style is reflected in his engaging personality, and he was always flexible in his availability to add a wonderful atmosphere to our events, and for our daytime trade."

"G Clef was an amazing Duo. They were great to work with. I am in Canada and met with them online to discuss my vision of the proposal, which would take place in Portugal. I sent them the 3 songs I wanted them to sing during the proposal. 2 of the songs they did not know, but they spent the time to learn them. As they were learning the new songs, they even created a demo of the 3 songs I requested so I could hear how they sounded. I was impressed. The proposal took place in a cave that is only accessible by boat from Armacao de Pera. The duo had to meet the boat crew ahead of time and get dropped off in the cave, which gave them time to set up. They brought a battery-powered amplifier for the guitar and vocals. Everything worked out perfectly. This group was great to work with and sounded excellent; they even performed an additional song of their choice, which was a perfect fit for the moment. I would highly recommend them for any event you have planned. "

"We had searched for a guitarist to play our wedding, but as we wanted one to get the party started between the day and evening do, we struggled to find one, with most having a more downbeat take on songs. But then we found Matt and as we looked through his links on YouTube etc., his repertoire and his style, it became clear he was the guitarist for us. We reached out to Matt to talk about what we wanted from him for our day and he was very open and collaborative to our suggestions and upfront on what he provided, for how long and for how much and what he needed from us, making the whole booking process very easy. We also enquired about him learning some additional songs that were favourites of our friends and family, which he gladly obliged. On the day he arrived and got set up promptly, smartly dressed and was amazing, with our guests commenting that he was great. We would wholeheartedly recommend Matt for anyone, he is an amazing wedding guitarist!"
