A guide to booking

Hire Dancers in Australia

Professional dance performers in your area offer live entertainment across a range of styles, from classical ballet and ballroom to contemporary, cultural and themed acts. Dance entertainment works well at weddings, corporate functions, private celebrations and cultural events, with options for both stage performances and interactive guest participation.

Booking Dance Acts Locally

When hiring dance performers near you, consider the format that best suits your event. Solo dancers are a popular pick for intimate settings like wedding ceremonies or cocktail hours. Dance groups and troupes deliver higher-impact choreographed shows for larger venues and audiences. Many acts offer themed performances that can match your event's style, and some provide interactive elements such as group dance lessons. Discuss space requirements, floor type and performance duration with your chosen act to make sure the setup works for your venue.

Dance Performer Pricing in Australia

Professional dancers in Australia range from $160 to $1,250+, with an average cost of $430. Pricing depends on the number of performers, show length, costume requirements and travel distance. Solo acts are typically more affordable, while full troupes with custom choreography and multiple costume changes sit at the higher end. Some performers offer packages that combine a stage show with a later interactive set or extended performance time.

Photo of Mystica Fay: Fire, LED and Belly Dance Mystica Fay: Fire, LED and Belly Dance "Fire dancer - kids 10th birthday party at home. I have seen Mystica perform before so I knew it would be amazing, but she wayyyyy exceeded my expectations!! The kids were absolutely delighted, watching the incredible fire dancing to their favourite songs. The parents were also amazed at her talent and creativity! There was a special moment for the birthday girl, which she will treasure forever. Mystica is wonderful with children. I highly rate and can’t wait to have her back for another event next time! Thankyou what a privilege ❤️❤️❤️ Event date: August 29, 2026 Services provided: Fire Dancer" Based in Melbourne, Victoria 22nd September 2026 Jasmine Zhang Photo of Belly Dance Show & Fire Show by Azra Belly Dance Show & Fire Show by Azra "I recently attended an event where Azra the belly dancer not only belly danced but balanced a sword on her head, performed a fire show while dancing as well as a light show with fabric fans!! Not your typical belly dancer at all.😲 Azra is a very talented, friendly and an engaging dancer. The beautiful colors of her outfit and props, combined with the ancient rhythm of the dance truly created a memorable experience.🥰 Everyone felt comfortable around her instantly which is important i feel and she even put belly dancing belts on some of the guests which they absolutely loved!! :)💃💃💃🔥" Based in Melbourne, Victoria 18th September 2026 Krystal Photo of Class Act Creative Class Act Creative "Class Act Creative are absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended if you would like to hire a dancer who will give a dazzling and fun performance." Based in Melbourne, Victoria Kirsty - Birthday party Photo of Aire Flamenco Dancers Aire Flamenco Dancers "“For an introduction to the world of Flamenco, Flamenco Sol is a must watch” ★★★★ Perth Happenings, 2023 Aire Flamenco has dispelled my preconceptions of what Flamenco is. Even when frenetic, there is finesse to the stamping, akin to the quick shuffle of a tap dancer. In fact, it is grace under fire as despite the furious footwork you might see and hear, there is restraint in movement, most noticeably in the wrists and fingers which always remain gentle and languid. And that’s not all I learnt about flamenco, while watching Flamenco Sol. Aire Flamenco is a melting pot ensemble of performers who boast a combined wealth of international experience. Sunday’s performance featured Marcus Perrozzi (percussion), Justin Kutylowski (guitar and vocals), Raquel Avellan (dance and vocals), Valeria Gonzalez (dance) and Maree Laffan (dance). Through Flamenco Sol, this talented troupe invites the audience for a brief tour of the world of Flamenco. In Flamenco, almost every prop has a purpose, nothing is just ornamental. From the taps of the baston (cane) and the sliding flick of the hand fan to the flowy bata de cola (skirt) to accentuate the twirls of the dancers. Even the humble clap and slap of what looked like an ordinary wooden box stool played their parts in providing a rich musical experience. I was drawn in by the farruca, with its assertive and sharp stamps contrasting with the soulful, emotive voice of the male vocalist. I also enjoyed the fan dance, which was truly mesmerising to watch as each opening and closing swish of the fan partnered perfectly with the beats of the percussionist. For an introduction to the world of Flamenco, Flamenco Sol is a must watch. I know I’ll be keeping an eye out for future gigs by Aire Flamenco." Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring dancers is $430, with prices from $160 to $1,250+. Cost depends on the number of performers, show duration, choreography complexity and whether costumes are provided. Dance acts range from solo performers to large troupes, and groups with more dancers and elaborate routines are priced accordingly.

Both are available and the choice usually follows the style: a single performer suits a short feature or moving among guests, while formation and cultural routines need three or more. Larger groups cost more but fill a bigger stage and read better to a seated audience. If space or budget is the deciding factor, say which, as it changes the recommendation.

Wedding bookings are among the most frequent, usually as a short feature during the reception or as a lesson for the couple beforehand. Cultural and themed weddings often use a group for an entrance or a set piece between courses. Where the couple want to learn a routine themselves, that is arranged separately from the performance.

Most dancers require a flat, stable performance area with enough space for their routine. The exact space needed depends on the number of dancers and the style of dance. Some performances may also require a sound system or a specific type of flooring. Gig Heaven recommends confirming all requirements with the performers.

Two or three short appearances across an evening is a common format, spacing out a feature show, a section among the guests and a finale rather than performing once. Costume changes between sets need somewhere private and a few minutes of notice. Agreeing the running order with the venue is what stops these slots clashing with speeches or food.

Many dancers offer interactive elements such as teaching guests basic dance steps, leading group dance routines or running short workshops as part of their booking. This works particularly well at weddings, corporate team-building events and parties.

The dancers perform in a wide range of styles including ballet, contemporary, salsa, tango, Bollywood, flamenco, breakdance, burlesque, samba and traditional cultural dances. Some performers also offer themed or choreographed routines for specific event types.

Performance length varies depending on the style and format. A feature show is typically 15 to 30 minutes, while roaming or ambient dancers can perform for one to three hours. Interactive workshops usually last 30 to 60 minutes. For the best experience, discuss the best format for your event.
