Based in Westport, Connaught 10th May 2026 Rachel scanlon - Wedding Photo of Me & jiggs Me & jiggs "We had a great time last night. We had Me & jiggs play at our going away party' and what a night to remember. We had a barbeque in the yard' .. the band came out to play an acoustic set of traditional tunes' ..all the young children gathered in a circle and danced to their hearts content. After about a half hour the band went inside where they had already set up for the performance .it was lively and there was something to suit everyone. The band had their own lights which brought the venue to life. It was unforgetable' we both really enjoyed it as did all of our friends." We really wanted our guests to experience some traditional Irish music as part of our wedding celebration and Asgards were the perfect band for that!" Amazing performance from start to finish. Such a talented band. Highly recommend to anyone looking to add an element of Irish culture to their wedding celebration." Based in Athy, Leinster EMER & PAUL 2022 - Wedding Music Photo of Shindig Wedding Band Shindig Wedding Band "Simply the best. As I said many times, we were not looking for a wedding band in Ireland, we wanted an Irish Band that does weddings. Well we found them. In March of 2024 my wife and I were in Ireland to preview my daughter's wedding venue in Co. Monaghan at Castle Leslie. We did not have a band yet and happened into Temple Bar and fortunately for us Sparky was playing with an awesome fiddle player and we were hooked. Quick conversation and some planning with Gav and they were booked. They were incredibly accommodating and helped coordinate all of the music for the day including ceremony, Cocktail 2 Hours(!), Shindig for the evening and even a DJ inserted in the middle. They also worked with me and my band to do some of the first dances etc. for my daughter and our families. As a musician myself, I know good when I see it and these guys were awesome! I can't wait to play with them again!" Based in Dublin, Leinster 7th February 2026 Tim Pitney - Wedding

The average price for folk bands on Gig Heaven is €600, with rates from €120 to €1,500+. Cost depends on the number of musicians, performance length and the instruments involved. Folk bands feature a range of traditional instruments such as fiddle, mandolin, accordion and bodhrán, and larger groups with more players cost more.

Hiring folk bands suits a wide range of events including weddings, ceilidhs, barn dances, festivals, pub events, corporate functions and cultural celebrations. Folk music creates a warm, convivial atmosphere and many bands encourage audience participation through sing-alongs and dancing.

Some folk bands also offer ceilidh or barn dance calling as part of their performance. The caller guides guests through traditional group dances, making it an inclusive and entertaining activity for all ages. To get the best results, check each band's profile to see if they offer this option.

Many folk bands can perform acoustically for smaller, intimate venues. For medium to large events, most bands bring their own PA system. It is advisable to discuss the venue size and guest numbers with the band to determine the best sound setup.
