Guitar players mostly quote per set rather than per hour, with rates in Killarney starting from about €110 for a single instrumental set, typical bookings around €330 and singer-guitarists bringing their own PA reaching €1,000+. Longer performances, weekend and peak-season dates, and sets that include vocals all push quotes up. When comparing quotes, check what each includes: amplification, travel and time to learn requested songs are sometimes itemised separately. Booking ceremony and reception music with the same performer often costs less than hiring two separate acts. Contact the supplier you like for an accurate quote.

Photo of J.Sull J.Sull "I can’t recommend Jay enough. He was absolutely brilliant and had the whole crowd up singing and dancing, he really made our night. His voice was superb and he had a wide variety of songs. He interacted with the crowd and really made every person feel like part of the performance. Thank you Jay!" Based in Killarney, Munster 11th August 2026 Jodie Broad - Christening Photo of Johnny Guitar 86 Johnny Guitar 86 "Johnny was our entertainment for our wedding and we can't recommend him enough, he was fantastic, everybody was up dancing throughout his set. He played a wide variety of songs to suit all, we had an absolute ball. He's sound out, very easy to chat to. Wouldn't hesitate to book again, delighted he was part of our day ☺️" Based in Mallow, Munster (38 miles from Killarney) 31st July 2026 Selina & Billy - Wedding Photo of Chris Wood Guitarist Chris Wood Guitarist "When we got engaged, we knew we would like to have a small, private ceremony with family and close friends. We contacted Chris to discuss how that might look and from the 1st call, we knew we were in good hands. Chris is so talented, modest, and efficient. There were big asks being put to him and he delivered on all fronts, to a degree that we could only have dreamed of. Chris brings so much to a ceremony by incorporating his own style of guitar playing into the requested songs. His good humour and easygoing reassurance are bonuses to having him involved in a ceremony. Thank you Chris for all you did for us in 2025 as we planned our wedding - we are eternally grateful! Best, Siobhan & Karl O'Connor x" Based in Shannon, Munster (53 miles from Killarney) 15th January 2026 Siobhan & Karl O'Connor - Wedding Photo of PennySweet PennySweet "Christine sang a requested song for my wedding ceremony . I had asked her after seeing her contribute samples on social media. It was heartfelt and added personal touches that reflected our story. At short notice she also contributed to our day 2 event in a local oub and added great value to our special occassion. We wanted something to add a variety to a strong trad flavour we had from a strong musical family. Highly recommend Christine for an easy going , personap touch especially if your someone that likes to request sprcific song choices in a acoustic style with female vocals. Richard was easy to deal with, professional throughout, and his music brought a nice warmth to the event." Frequently asked questions

The average price for guitarists on Gig Heaven is €330, with rates ranging from €110 to €1,000+. Cost depends on performance duration, the guitarist's experience and whether the booking is for background music or a full live set. Guitarists on the platform cover a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, blues, rock, flamenco and pop.

The guitarists for hire cover a huge range of styles including classical, jazz, blues, flamenco, rock, pop, folk, fingerstyle and acoustic covers. Many guitarists are versatile performers who can switch between styles during an event to suit different moments.

Popular occasions for hiring guitarists include wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, corporate dinners, private parties, restaurant entertainment and ambient background music. A solo guitarist provides versatile, elegant live music that suits both intimate and larger settings.

Most guitarists are happy to learn specific songs for key moments such as a ceremony entrance or first dance. Many have extensive repertoires covering popular songs, classical pieces and jazz standards. It is advisable to discuss song requests with the guitarist well in advance.

Many guitarists on Gig Heaven play both electric and acoustic guitar and can choose the instrument that best suits the event. Acoustic guitar provides a warm, intimate sound for ceremonies and dining, while electric guitar is better for rock, blues and higher-energy performances.

For small, quiet settings, many guitarists can perform acoustically. For larger venues, outdoor events or noisier environments, a small amplifier or PA system is usually needed. Most guitarists bring their own amplification. For the best experience, discuss the venue size with the performer.

One player can usually cover the whole day, moving from processional and signing music during the ceremony to background playing over drinks and dinner. Timings are agreed in advance, since the ceremony music has fixed cues while the reception is more flexible. Where the ceremony and the reception are in different spaces, allow time to move and set up between them.

Most bookings run to two or three hours of playing time, split into sets with breaks, though the total time on site is longer once setup and soundcheck are added. Shorter ceremony-only bookings of around 40 minutes are common and are priced differently. Ask for playing time rather than hours on site, as the two are not the same.

Outdoor playing is common for ceremonies and garden receptions, and most players are happy to do it given shade and a level surface. Direct sun and damp both affect a wooden instrument, so a covered area is worth arranging even in settled weather. Wind carries sound away quickly, so amplification is usually needed outdoors even for a small number of guests.
