Photo of The Unknowns The Unknowns "There are songs that just stand out because they are so different from everything out there. “Stay Down Kat”, by The Unknowns, is definitely one of those songs. There’s a suave, jazzy, bluesy feel to this song, with great lead and backing vocals. It’s sultry, sensual, mysterious, and controlled, yet it has its powerful moments. And who can resist a great sax solo? Those things will draw you in, and soon The Unknowns will be known." Frequently asked questions

Pricing for indie bands ranges from $200 to $3,150+, with an average of $850. Rates depend on the number of band members, performance length and the equipment supplied. Indie bands range from stripped-back acoustic outfits to full electric line-ups, so the size and style of the act is the primary factor in cost.

The indie bands for hire perform indie rock, indie pop, alternative and guitar-driven music covering both classic indie anthems and modern indie hits. Many bands have a distinctive sound that brings an authentic live music atmosphere to events.

Hiring indie bands is a popular choice for weddings, birthday parties, bar and pub events, corporate parties and festivals. Indie music appeals to audiences who want something more distinctive than mainstream pop and rock cover bands.

Many indie bands play a mix of well-known indie covers and their own original material. Some bands focus entirely on covers of popular indie songs, while others are original artists who also take cover requests. It is a good idea to check each band's profile for their repertoire.

Wedding bookings are common, and many acts build a set that stays quieter during the meal before moving to a full electric performance later in the evening. Most will learn a first dance song given a few weeks' notice. Couples who want the same sound during the ceremony usually book a stripped-back acoustic line-up of the same act.

Four or five players is the most common shape, usually vocals, guitar, bass and drums, with keys added where the material calls for it. Three-piece acts work well in smaller rooms and cost less to book. Larger line-ups adding brass or extra vocals are available where the stage and the budget allow.

Most are self-contained for pub, bar and small function work, bringing a PA suited to the room and basic stage lighting. Larger venues, festival stages and outdoor bookings usually need production supplied separately. Giving the act the room size and whether a house system is available lets them judge what to bring.
