Browse 402 magicians and magic performers for hire in South Africa, with 1,598 reviews from real clients rating acts 5 out of 5. The acts listed cover close-up magic performed for small groups, table-to-table sets during a seated meal, and staged shows with props and audience volunteers, so the same page serves a 30-guest dinner and a 300-guest awards night.
Most magic acts travel well beyond the town they are based in, so the choice available for a given date is usually wider than it first looks. Most bookings land around R8,500.

Magicians in South Africa work across weddings, private parties and corporate events, and many will have performed at the same venues you are considering. That matters more than it sounds: an act that knows a room knows where the awkward sightlines are, how long the drinks reception really runs, and when the staff will start clearing tables.
Close-up magic asks for almost nothing at all. No stage, no power, no sound system, and the act can start the moment guests have a drink in hand. A staged set is a different proposition and needs a clear area guests can see from a seated position, somewhere to leave props out of sight, and in a large room a microphone through the house system. Ask the venue about the sound system before booking a stage act, because a magician talking without amplification to 200 seated guests will not carry.
The two slots that work hardest are the drinks reception, where guests are standing and have nothing to do, and the gap between a meal and the evening entertainment. Roaming magic during a seated meal works too, though it needs coordinating with the catering team so the act is not arriving at a table as the plates do. Give the performer a running order a week or two ahead and they will usually suggest where their set lands best.
Rates for magic acts in South Africa centre on R8,500 for a standard booking, with the length of the performance window the single biggest factor. Distance adds to a quote once a performer is travelling far enough to need a hotel, and the busiest wedding dates of the year carry a premium. Check whether the quoted fee covers setup time and any props specific to your event, and whether a second appearance later in the evening is charged separately or folded into a package.
The average price for Magicians available in South Africa is R8,500 (ZAR). Above you will also find a budget price and high end price. Contact the supplier you like for an accurate quote.

Illusions South Africa
"6We had the pleasure of working with Leon and the Real Magic Productions team at the 2026 East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, and they were an absolute pleasure to work with.
Leon brought fantastic energy, professionalism and creativity to the show, and the performances were incredibly well received by our visitors. What stood out most was his ability to engage with audiences of all ages and create those unexpected moments of entertainment that really add to the overall event experience.
Leon is passionate about what he does, reliable and incredibly easy to work with. We loved having Real Magic Productions as part of the show and would happily recommend Leon and his team to anyone looking to bring something engaging, memorable and a little bit magical to their event.
