The most common booking is a soloist with backing tracks, which delivers a near-full-band sound at a smaller budget, but many performers also work as a duo with a pianist or guitarist, or front their own band for events wanting a fuller live sound.
Local soul vocalists tend to split between classic soul (Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye) and modern soul and R&B (Adele, Sam Smith, John Legend, Joss Stone). Most maintain published setlists on their profiles, and the majority will learn one or two specific requests for a wedding or milestone event without an extra fee, provided there is reasonable notice.
Rates for soul vocalists in Saint Augustine typically run from $160 for a soloist with backing tracks at a local event up to $1,550+ for an established performer travelling with a band, with the average sitting around $550. The main cost variables are line-up (solo, duo or band), set length, travel distance and whether a PA is provided by the venue. Makaio
"This review is LONG over due as Makio absolutely MADE our cocktail reception complete. I had visions of a lounge atmosphere and wanted it to be a surprise for the guests. Mak played along the entire time to the point of actually getting some silverware for one of our guests before we announced "does anyone else want to say anything" and he seamlessly broke out into my favorite standard "The Way You Look Tonight". He incorporated all our favorites as well as our guests requests. He even remembered I had some Parrotheads in the room and threw in some Buffet :) all this then drove back to the city from Indiana in a snow storm. I love his sound and I swear he sang for 3 hours straight. Honored a clip from our event is on his web page. We loved him. Book him, you will not be disappointed."
Ms. Monique
"I was blown away by Ms. Monique's performance! She brought such passion and authenticity to the stage, making it an experience I'll cherish forever. Her ability to engage the audience is remarkable. Highly recommend catching her show!"
Grant Ray
"Choosing Grant for our New Year business event was the best choice! He responded promptly when I messaged him on thumbtack, set up 2.5 hours before the event, and sang 4 hours without a break! He sang Sinatra to BeeGees and country with a talented voice. We will recommend Grant to all our friends and family!"

Rokstedy
"Piano bar every night on Carnival Paradise and Carnival Dream. No place else I’d rather be on a cruise with the talent of Rok. What a great performer"
Roger Terrell – Heart and Soul Music
"Owner Charlie here from Spookie Bar & Grill and Scream Dream Castle Entertainment. Roger delivered a super, great show that kept the crowd moving with beach music, soul, and rock classics. The bar manager told me he loved the energy and variety, and our security guard — a huge Bon Jovi and Led Zeppelin fan — said Roger nailed it. Roger even entertained guests waiting in line for the largest haunted house in the Carolinas and made everyone feel like part of the party."
