Vintage Themed Bands for Hire in Nottingham

The vintage themed bands for hire perform music spanning the 1920s through to the 1960s, covering styles such as jazz, swing, rock and roll, doo-wop, skiffle and Motown. Many bands also offer modern songs performed in a vintage style, such as acoustic or swing versions of contemporary hits.

Hiring vintage themed bands is popular for vintage-themed weddings, Gatsby and prohibition parties, afternoon teas, corporate events, garden parties and retro celebrations. Vintage music adds charm and character to events with a classic or nostalgic theme.

Many vintage themed bands perform in authentic vintage attire appropriate to their era of music, from 1920s flapper dresses and suits to 1950s rock and roll outfits. This adds a visual element that enhances the atmosphere at themed events. Gig Heaven recommends asking about costume options when making an enquiry.

Smaller formats are widely offered, often a singer and piano or a three-piece, and they suit afternoon receptions where a full band would dominate. The larger line-ups carry the brass that defines much of the period's sound. Booking a small group for the day and the full act for the evening is a common compromise.

Most are self-contained and bring a PA suited to the room, though acts built around acoustic instruments often need less than a modern band. Period-styled microphones and stands are usually part of the look rather than the sound, and come with the act. Venues with their own system should mention it, as it can reduce what has to be transported.

Many acts perform modern songs arranged in the style of their era, which lands well with guests who do not know the original material. Others stay strictly period and treat that as the point of the booking. Both work, so it is worth asking which approach an act takes before choosing between them.
