Gig Heaven has thousands of suppliers. The filters on the search page narrow them down to ones that actually match your event. This article covers each filter and how to combine them.
The "Filter your search" dialog — pick your event type at the top, then tick the features your supplier needs.
The filters in short
What. The supplier category (band, DJ, singer, entertainer, photographer, caterer, and so on) and any sub-types (for example, wedding band vs. function band).
Where. Country, town, or city. You can also search without a location to see suppliers everywhere.
Event type. Wedding, corporate, private party, festival, etc. Suppliers list which event types they handle.
Genre. For musical acts, the styles they play (jazz, soul, rock, classical, and many more).
Tags. Extra refinement criteria set by suppliers, for example acoustic, roaming, silent disco.
Building a useful search
Start broad, then narrow down.
Pick the category you want (for example, bands).
Add your location (country and town).
Pick the event type if you know it.
Add a genre or two if it matters (for example, jazz).
Use tags last to fine-tune (for example, acoustic).
If a filter combination gives you very few results, relax one filter at a time until more suppliers appear.
When you add a location, the default sort becomes distance, nearest suppliers first. Without a location, sort falls back to our default order.
Searching by URL
Many of our search pages have clean, shareable URLs like /search/jazz-band/united-kingdom/london.html. If you know the category you want, you can edit the URL directly (or use the category links on our homepage) to jump to a tailored search.
Seeing more detail on a supplier
Click any result to open their full listing, with photos, audio, video, reviews, pricing, and contact form. If you're comparing several suppliers, see Shortlisting and contacting several suppliers at once for the fastest way to enquire in bulk.
If you can't find the right supplier
Widen the search area. Many suppliers travel; a supplier 20 miles away may still be perfect.
Drop a tag or genre. If your filter combo is too tight, you'll miss good matches.
