Cameron is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from cancellation, delay or changes to the event. These terms apply alongside Gig Heaven’s platform terms and the individual booking agreement. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the booking is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

About / Biography

Most mentalists learn how to read a room on stage. Cameron Leo learned to do it as a police officer.

Based in Sydney and available internationally, Cameron is a corporate mentalist and psychological magician with a background in uniformed and plain-clothes policing. His work depended on reading behaviour, noticing small details and understanding how people respond when the pressure is on. Those experiences now give his performances an edge audiences do not expect from a traditional magic act.

Cameron combines mind reading, psychological influence, impossible predictions and sleight of hand in a fast-moving, interactive show built for intelligent adult audiences. Guests become part of the experience as he reveals thoughts, predicts decisions and demonstrates just how much we give away without realising it.

The entire room is involved, but nobody is embarrassed or made the punchline. It is smart, inclusive entertainment that works particularly well for corporate audiences where senior leaders, valued clients and employees are all sharing the same room.

Cameron offers:

• A 30 to 60-minute stage show for conferences, gala dinners, awards nights and corporate celebrations
• Close-up magic and mentalism during cocktail receptions, networking events and private functions
• A performance-led keynote exploring observation, behaviour, influence and resilience
• Bespoke performances incorporating a company, event theme, product, campaign or key message

Cameron has performed for organisations including Disney, Tiffany & Co., Telstra, Foxtel and Origin Energy. His theatre production, The Undercover Magician, has also played multiple sold-out performances in Australia.

For international events, Cameron travels with a compact performance setup and does not require large illusions or complicated freight. He works with organisers and venue AV teams before the event, adapts the material to the audience and schedule, and keeps the technical requirements straightforward.

The result is a distinctive headline performance with the impact of a major stage show, without the production demands normally associated with flying an illusion act internationally.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Cameron’s production requirements are straightforward and suitable for most theatres, hotels and corporate venues.

For a stage performance, he requires:

• A clear performance area of at least 4 metres wide by 3 metres deep
• A raised stage for larger audiences, with clear sightlines from every seat
• A professional PA system with a wireless hands-free headset microphone
• A large screen, projector or LED wall clearly visible to the entire audience
• An HDMI connection for Cameron’s laptop to display visual assets during the performance
• The ability to play music and presentation audio through the venue’s sound system
• Basic stage lighting with an even front wash
• Clear access between the stage and audience where possible
• One standard power outlet near the performance area
• A private and secure room or area for preparation and equipment storage
• Access to the venue at least 60 minutes before the performance, including a brief sound, lighting and visual check

What information do you require about a venue?

Please provide the venue name, full address and room name, along with:

• Expected audience size and seating layout
• Stage dimensions and height
• Confirmation that all guests can clearly see Cameron and the screen
• Details of the PA system, wireless headset microphone, stage lighting and AV equipment
• Screen, projector or LED wall specifications and available HDMI connection
• Name and contact details of the venue’s AV or production contact
• Access time for setup and a technical check
• Loading access, parking and any venue restrictions
• Availability of a private, secure preparation area
• Confirmed performance time and Cameron’s position in the event schedule
• Whether the event is indoors or outdoors, including the wet-weather plan

Floor plans, room photographs and technical specifications are helpful where available.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

For stage performances, the venue or client is required to provide a professional PA system, suitable stage lighting, a large screen or projector and an onsite AV technician.

Cameron can provide his own laptop, HDMI cable and wireless headset microphone where compatible with the venue’s system.

If the required equipment is not available at the venue, external production can be arranged at an additional cost with sufficient notice.

Close-up and roving performances are completely self-contained and require no sound or lighting equipment.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Cameron does not provide a full DJ service. However, he can supply suitable pre-show and background music through the venue’s sound system where required.

For continuous music, dancing or song requests throughout the event, a dedicated DJ should be arranged separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One of my favourite performances was the opening-night gala show for SPAR Australia’s national trade show and conference at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Performing a full stage mentalism show in a major convention venue for a national corporate audience was a real highlight. It had the scale and energy I enjoy most: a large room, professional production and an audience ready to become part of the show.

What's your favourite type of event?

My favourite events are conferences, gala dinners and awards nights where I can perform for the entire room and create a shared experience.

I particularly enjoy events that bring together clients, teams or delegates who may not know each other well. Mentalism gives everyone something to experience together and usually becomes the conversation that continues well after the show.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began developing my skills in magic and mentalism while I was still working as a police officer. What started as a personal interest gradually became much more serious, particularly as I noticed the overlap between the two worlds: observation, reading behaviour, influence and remaining calm under pressure.

I started gigging at private and corporate events, initially performing close-up magic before moving into larger stage shows and mentalism. Repeat bookings and referrals eventually allowed me to turn performing into my full-time career.

Since then, I have performed throughout Australia for organisations including Disney, Tiffany & Co., Telstra, Foxtel and Origin Energy. I have also created my own theatre production, The Undercover Magician, which has played multiple sold-out shows.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

For stage performances, I typically require access to the venue at least 60 minutes before showtime. Setup and the sound, lighting and visual check usually take between 30 and 45 minutes.

Stage performances run for 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the event format. Close-up and roving performances generally run for one to two hours and require minimal setup.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I am happy to perform outside when weather and venue conditions are suitable.

Roving performances can work particularly well outdoors. For a stage show, I require a covered and weather-protected performance area, reliable sound and visual equipment, suitable lighting and a safe backup plan in case conditions change.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

The show has a carefully structured core, but no two performances are exactly the same.

I work with clients to understand their audience, event objectives and preferred tone. Where appropriate, I can incorporate a company, event theme, product, campaign or key message into the performance while maintaining the integrity and impact of the show.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients most commonly describe my performances as mind-blowing, engaging, intelligent and unlike anything they have experienced before.

They often comment on how quickly the entire room becomes involved without anyone feeling uncomfortable, as well as how professional and easy the experience is from the initial planning through to the performance itself. The feedback I value most is hearing that guests were still talking about the show long after the event.
