Catoe White is a heartfelt singer-songwriter hailing from the picturesque landscapes of South Carolina. Raised in a small town, Catoe’s music is steeped in the rich traditions of country storytelling. Inspired by the sounds of his Southern roots, he blends classic country twang with a healthy dose of Americana inspiration, creating a sound that feels both timeless and fresh.
Catoe grew up in a musical family, learning basic guitar chords from his grandfather. Every family gathering usually ended with picking and singing. After an injury in college ended his basketball career, he found his way back to a guitar and taught himself to play using the knowledge he’d garnered from a youth surrounded by music. Hank, Haggard, and Strait exposed Catoe to the classics of country music, and he drew inspiration from legends like Toby Keith and Alan Jackson. From there, he began writing his own melodies and lyrics, drawing from his experiences of love, heartache, and the everyday beauty of spending summers at his grandparents’ lake house in Santee. His song titled “Heaven” was written about that house! His debut album, My Sober Ass, features tracks that transport listeners to sun-soaked backroads and front porches, where stories are shared over sweet tea and laughter. His most recent release, 90 Something Country, co-written with Pete Sallis, is climbing higher with each week on independent music charts and receiving airplay on 6 terrestrial radio stations regularly.
Catoe’s warm, soulful voice resonates with authenticity, and his live performances capture the essence of Southern hospitality. With his guitar in hand, he invites audiences into his world, weaving together tales of resilience and hope. Whether he’s playing at local honky-tonks or opening for major acts, Catoe’s passion for his craft shines through, making him a rising star in the traditional country scene.
When he’s not performing, you can find Catoe on a golf course, fishing, or cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks! With a heart full of dreams and a voice that echoes the spirit of his homeland, Catoe White is on a journey to share his music with the world, one story at a time.
