Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

My absolute favorite gig was opening for Jimmy Buffett in Dublin in 2019! A close second was putting a band together for an event in Nevada; we called ourselves The Unusual Suspects and brought the house down!

What's your favourite type of event?

We love all sorts of events/venues. As far as favorites...for solo shows, my favorite venues are house concerts/listening rooms. For the bands, we love doing festivals the most!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began playing, both solo and in bands, as a teenager After high school, I took a break from active gigging for about 20 years, while serving in the military and raising a family. I returned to part-time gigging in the late 90s, and in 2008 I became a full-time artist. I was also the Music Director for a major Parrothead/Trop Rock event from 2017-2024. I've played in nearly every US state as well as the UK, Ireland, Germany, Mexico and Canada.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Soooooo many, hard to narrow down! Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, John Denver, the 60s/70s Laurel Canyon scene, Appalachian folk/bluegrass, and many others have all contributed to my sound.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Solo/Duo/Trio: We like at least an hour for setup, though it usually only takes 20 minutes or so.
Bands: We like at least 2-2.5 hours for setup and sound check.
Typical performance times are 2-3 hours.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! We do request protection from sun, rain, high winds, etc.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

In my solo shows, I am known for taking requests. I often tell audiences "I'll play any song I know, and half the ones I don't!"
Band shows tend to be more set-listed, but I will also do requests solo during breaks.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Most comments are that I/we are high-energy, fun and "bringing the party,'" as well as adding a lot of humour to the shows.
