About / Biography

I am a cellist who loves classical music, as well as playing beloved popular songs. I often play with piano or in string quartets. Sometimes even with a 2 cello + 1 bass trio!

I give concerts, I play cello on recordings, and I perform background music at weddings and socials.

"My objective is to play with the kind of precision and sensitivity that brings people to life. I put every ounce of myself into reaching every ear and every heart." -Catherine Little, cellist

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Best gigs: Next to a lighthouse on a cliff as the sun was setting AND playing my album release concert for a fantastic audience

What's your favourite type of event?

A concert! Sharing a time filled mostly with music and a little bit of talking. After that, I love playing music for a party. It really sets the tone and changes the atmosphere completely, just by adding beautiful music.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging when I was about 16, playing at weddings in string quartets. Now I'm in my 40's, and I play in all sorts of combos. I love to do cello with piano in particular because the cello becomes the voice, and the piano is the band :) At this point I have played well over 300 concerts and events. Performing is what I focus most of my time on doing.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I've been most influenced by all of the pop and folk divas like Celine, Mariah, Whitney, Dolly, Jewel, Sarah MacLachlan... and then there's my first love - classical music, which speaks directly to the heart.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

For a background music performance, we arrive a about 1.5 hours prior to the performance to set up. We often are hired to play for 2 hours with a short break in the middle, but this really depends on the event and the clients needs.
For a concert, we arrive about 2.5 hours in advance, to have time to sound check and take a break before the doors open. This can vary, depending on the venue.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We offer a list of over 250 songs for clients to choose from. If the client has requests from outside our list, we will add up to 3 new tunes at no extra cost to them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

"Classy and special". "Emotional". "Such talent".

What makes your performances special?

My objective is to play with the kind of precision and sensitivity that brings people to life. I put every ounce of myself into reaching every ear and every heart.
I dress up. Beautiful music requires a visual to match.
I'm a classical musician who loves to play many genres.
If it's a wedding or background music, I alway bring amplification, and never blast the sound. This way, everyone hears the music, and the conversation too.
