Greetings. My name is Dan Chicorel. I routinely perform around the SF Bay area, most often for corporate and special events. But also for wedding receptions, winery events, private parties and bi-monthly at Monarch Bay Golf Course Special Events artist.
I utilize backing tracks as my primary rhythm section. Depending on the request, I can add another guitarist, horn player or two, pianist and possibly a singer.
I have a wide repertoire of music I typically tap into: Music from the 30's-70's including genres such as Film, TV, Broadway, jazz, pop, rock, R&B. Artists I admire and play often include (in no particular order) Antonio Carlos Jobim (Brazilian), The Beatles, Pop Hits from the 60's, Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, Geroge Gerswhin and many of the great composers of the golden age of music. I routinely perform many classic TV and Film Theme songs harking back to the youth of the audience.
Depending on the size of the audience I have several PA set-ups. Typically all I need is a power source and my set-up is quick and easy.

I recently performed for the Surgeon General of the United States at a fund raising event in Sausalito! I've performed at high level corporate events such as Kaiser Permanente and others. Have performed at numerous winery related events in Napa.
I love any event that has great acoustics, often times, outdoor has great acoustics. I enjoy playing up in Napa or "classy" event where my music is appreciated. But ultimately, I enjoy playing music that the audience will appreciate no matter the venue.
I started gigging back in the 80's after studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the tutelage of Tom Hynes (a protege of Joe Pass). I would play intermittently until later in my career where I began to perform out more regularly here in the Bay Area.
I would consider Earl Klugh, Wes Montgomery and George Benson has three of the most influential artists. But in the same breath, The Beatles are my all-time favorite band and I often perform many of there songs in my performances. I'm heavily influenced as well by the music of Tin Pan Alley, the standards - music from musicals, heavily influenced by the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim (Bossa Nova and Samba). And I love playing some of TV's greatest theme songs! Mary Tyler Moore, The Odd Couple, Bewitched and many more!
My typical setup is pretty fast. Usually takes about 15-20 minutes tops once I've loaded the equipment to the performance area. I always make sure to arrive anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 or 1.5 hours ahead of time to ensure a smooth setup, meet the host and make sure everything is is good working order.
Most of my gigs seem to take place outdoors, no matter the season. So I'm comfortfortable performing outdoors.
I'll take requests on occasion, though I typically work from a LARGE (over 400 song) set list that seems to cover most clients needs.
Relaxing, smooth, fantastic ambiance, perfect for the occasion (often times a gathering of sorts where people mingle about before or after an event).
If I know the song and it's appropriate to the mood, I'll be happy to play it.
As long as we agree upon a new financial arrangement at that time, sure.
If I'm playing longer than 1 hour, I'll often take a 5-10 minute break every hour thereafter to rest my fingers and move about. I typically play other background music while on a break, so music always will be playing.
